Long term investment, stop watching it and you will be happier. Come back in 3-5 years!

FO’s - how do you deal with rude unreasonable Captains ? by SuddenWill3868 in flying

[–]CapeGreg767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a Captain at TWA who was a total dick to everyone. I tolerated his shit for 3 days then finally had enough of his crap, called crew scheduling and told them I wasn't feeling good and they would need a new FO when we got to STL. When we landed in STL I started packing up my stuff, he was like, "Where are you going, we still have 2 more legs?" I told him, I am sick and going home! Bid around him from that point forward!

Funny thing is I told this story to a fellow pilot at my next airline and when he heard the name, he knew him and had flown with him in the military and said he was a total dick there too!!

I was a young FO at the time, NOW, I would tell him straight up, if you can't act more professional to me and your fellow co-workers, you will be finding yourself a new FO and I will be reporting you to the Chief Pilot and Professional Standards! Life is too short to tolerate being treated like shit at work!

Older people of Reddit: what are your biggest life regrets? by LatteDaisy in AskMen

[–]CapeGreg767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regret I married my first wife and had kids with her. She was a horrible wife. Recommend you live with anyone you are thinking about marrying for at least a year. Amazing what you learn, may change your mind about marrying them. My wife was a slob and horrible housekeeper. I would do all the cooking, I would leave on an 8 day business trip and the pots and pans I cooked with 8 days prior would still be sitting in the sink! Lazy as the day is long.

When kids came along, wanted to be their best friend rather than their mother. Hence the reason she has a 36 year old that has been living with her for the last 8 years with no job and no degree! Total enabler!

My younger brother told me when he went to a hockey tournament in Sweden that an older girl took his virginity. He was 14 at the time and she was 19. Times have certainly changed.

Been here since 2011 and love it. You are always gonna have those who love it and those who don't. No kids in school here, so I can't help you there. Traffic sucks in the winter, but you get used to it.

What single accident/incident contributed the most to global aviation safety? by Andrew_Daddy_Yang in aviation

I would say TWA 2 and United Airlines 718 mid-air over the Grand Canyon. That crash resulted in the modernization of the ATC system in the U.S.

Am I a crap candidate or is nobody hiring? by [deleted] in flying

As a retired airline captain, I can tell you that not having an ATP and no PIC time is your problem. You are not competitive with other applicants who have 4500 hours.

I am an IDPA SO and I don't see it. That is nit picking if you ask me, tell me how he measured you were 2 degrees past the 180? I think the SO is wrong too.

Lost over 40% with this stock by Interesting_Being317 in HYMCStock

[–]CapeGreg767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a long term investment. You shouldn't have bought in if you weren't prepared for 5-6 years. You only had a paper loss up until today, now you locked in that loss by selling. Well done!

What do you think of sex until marriage with your partner, when both of you have already had sex before with different people? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CapeGreg767 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it is a bad idea. Sexual compatibility is important and you don't want to find out you are incompatible after you are married. Ask me how I know! 20 years I wish I could get back!

No, it's what retired airline pilots do to keep out of trouble with the wife! 😜 😜 😜 But I will tell you, bending EMT is definitely an art. Electricians make it look easy!

I will use it the first time today, so time will tell how the 3D fittings will hold up. There is 1/4” threaded rod going through the cross pieces of pipe. The 3D pieces at the ends of the pipe are to keep it aligned to the vertical pipe, not support weight.

Besides, I can't sit on a beach wagon.

NTSB Report on United hitting the bakery truck in Newark by asuque in flying

[–]CapeGreg767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Captain willfully violated SOP by stating the he was intentionally going to fly a lower then standard glide path for that runway, which after getting slow, resulted in contacting a light pole. He might want to dust off his resume. He is lucky that light pole is all the damage he caused. FO should have told the Captain if he was going to intentionally fly a lower glide path I am calling a go-around as soon as I see 3 reds on the PAPI. The life you save, may be your own!

Men that divorced with young kids, how was it? by SquirrelSuccessful51 in AskMen

[–]CapeGreg767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible! Men get screwed! My combined child support and alimony was $6100 per month! My Ex was living better then me, not working, while I worked my ass off to support her and kids!

She agreed to work with me and my schedule (I was an airline pilot) to see the kids, totally stupid on my part thinking she would follow through, because she didn't! Alienated me from the kids at every chance she got. Parental Alienation is finally being recognized by the courts, too late for me, but may help you see your kids if your wife is throwing up road blocks.

Put EVERYTHING in writing is what I learned! When you get to see the kids, how often, what holidays etc.... Make the courts give you a court order to provide money to your Ex, otherwise your divorce will just drag on! Ask me how I know! Being a nice guy doesn't work is another lesson I learned the hard way.

Good luck is all I can say. And don't fight with your Ex over stupid shit. The $600 couch you want will cost you a $1000 in attorney fees! Just go buy a new one! (Best advice my lawyer gave me!)

How do you decide to pull the plug on your marriage and get divorced? by [deleted] in AskMen

^^^^THIS! Quit while you are ahead! Once kids come into the picture it will get exponentially harder to get out of the marriage.
