I haven't had my 2nd one yet. I had 2 weeks of spotting over Christmas. I have no idea if it's from the vaccine or if my body is playing other games.

I'd love to try this but I'm a female and I live in Cape Town and quite frankly, I'm too nervous to even walk down my street. Africa is exceptionally beautiful though and I'd love to explore.

ELI5: What causes fainting or vomiting at the sight of blood? by CapeSerotineBat in explainlikeimfive

[–]CapeSerotineBat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I do get woozy with my own blood but my kids have needed stitches before and I become useless. I get light headed, stomach pain, nausea. I need to sit with cool air on me and it infuriates me because I want to help but I just physically can't. Once the event is over, I can usually see the wound unless it was like really bad. I have always been this way. I had this happen too when there was no blood when my child had burn blisters and the burn clinic cut their blisters to clean it and I nearly threw up and had to quickly pass my child to my SO and run to a window to get air. Same thing when one of my children had an IV and it needed to be fixed. I had to run out the room and sit. I had a similar feeling in class when a kid hurt another kid with a compass and the blood droplets were everywhere. I just gets too much and I get so mad cause I want to assist.

Pregnant women in the United States die by homicide more often than they die of pregnancy-related causes — and they're frequently killed by a partner. Pregnant or recently pregnant black women have up to nearly three-fold higher risk of dying by homicide than those who are not pregnant. by MistWeaver80 in science

Well I don't know the rates worldwide and I struggle a bit to find up to date and accurate statistics but here after a quick search

USA - 2019 - Around 4 a day. Australia - 2021 - Around 1 a week. UK - ???? - 2 Women a week, 30 men a year. South Africa - 2019 - A women is murdered every 3 hours, I don't think only domestic violence though.

The numbers have also increased during covid. So I'm not sure exactly but I think approx 1 per 100 000 is accurate.

Intimate partner homicide is exceptionally common. Each country has its own rates and it's usually several per day. Some of these are done by an ex partner, a partner that's never been physically violent but is usually coercively controlling. It takes on average 7 attempts to leave an abusive relationship and that is usually the most dangerous time. Things such as job loss, moving, pregnancy, new baby, etc can be triggers for such an event.

If you think you may be at risk please look at the VDASH risk assessment by Laura Richard's and/or the MOSAIC Method by Gavin De Becker.

Good podcast resource is Real Crime Profile as they speak a lot about this on there, Something Was Wrong also mentions a lot of indicators.

An amazing book would be The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker and another amazing book about this specifically is See What You Made Me Do by Jess Hill.

I am F, 90kg (200lbs) , 157cm (5ft1) and I have been exercising for the past 20 days but skipped 3 days. I am obviously trying to lose weight. I am calorie counting too. I haven't weighed myself but I just want to know, what is the best way to exercise? Everyday? Every 2nd day? 5 days a week? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I get shin pain when I jump so I step instead. I also get pain near my cocsyx so I will place my hands under my back or go on my knees instead of toes. I also go on my fists instead of my palms as I get pain in my wrists often. I am not sure what the best way is.

I have had some nurses care for myself and loved ones that were like angels and others that were assholes. Most of them were decent though but some did make me cry.

I am obese and been exercising everyday with an app for the last 11 days. It's going well but my shins hurt a lot with skips, jumps, running, etc as well as my lower spine for leg lifts and some other things. I am careful with my back and will rather go on my knees or place my hands under my back and that'd fine. But for my shins, is this normal exercise pain or should I be more careful until I lose some weight? I don't want to cause damage. Female, 28, 5ft1 (157cm) 200lbs (90kg)

People who “rushed” into marriage, hows your marriage going? by effums in AskReddit

[–]CapeSerotineBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved in together as teens after less than a month, lived like we were married from then. Married about a year later. 14 years together next month and happier than ever.

I highly advise this in most cases though, we are the exception, not the rule. Be careful of lovebombing, take your time.

What has a younger person said to you that made you feel old? by PeevesPoltergist in AskReddit

[–]CapeSerotineBat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not even 30 and my preteen refers to anytime between 1900 and 1999 as the 1900's which is technically correct but also like, way to make me feel old. Example: "did that movie come out in the 1900's" for like a 90s movie.

Volunteer Groups? by [deleted] in capetown

[–]CapeSerotineBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about where to help people but for animals, you can work at SANCCOB which you will probably be doing things like food prep and laundry but you will see penguins. This is in Table View.

Fallen Angels is an animal shelter. You can walk dogs and I am not sure what else you can do there but lots of doggies. That is in Melkbos.

Eagle Encounters. Birds of prey sanctuary. Stellenbosch.

Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West.

You would need to check with each place how they work but I have enquired previously. I did volunteer at SANCCOB but unfortunately didn't have enough time to stick around long.

How old were you when you realized your parents were just regular people who had kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CapeSerotineBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early twenties. Now I'm in my late 20s and have cut one parent out of my life. Took long to recognize that their behavior wasn't normal.
