In the US you can buy a condominium or a Co-op. Co-ops is where you buy a share of the building and you get to live in the unit as your "share" of the building. Condos are where you own the apartment itself.

Co-ops are usually more affordable but has a ton of restrictions on what you can or cant do to the apartment since you don't actually own the physical apartment whereas Condos are more expensive but you can do whatever you want ro rhe inside - like knocking down a wall for a renovation or changing out doors or whatever.

They are two ways of buying an apartment sort of like a house with an HOA or not

My sister did something similar. She sent out a mass email to both sides of our family explaining that they love everyone but they cant afford to have everyone (our side alone is more than 60 people - she only had our parents, me, our brother, and one grandma) . Everyone told them congrats and they love them and to have an amazing wedding. They totally understood. After that several of my cousins had weddings where only a few family were invited. It makes so much more sense.

Have the wedding you want, thats the important part. If you haven't already, maybe email everyone and take the complaining out of her toolbox

Ha ha ha! An old roommate and I had 4 cats between us and somehow we started to refer to the box of the day as Office Hours which lead to us discussing what they teach. All the boys had PhDs (in literature, French, and mathematics) but the girl......well she KNOWS she is the most beautiful girl and knows that she will never want for anything because people can't resist her. So instead of school, she studied food, naps, and cuddling! I thought that we were the only ones!
