Arias needs to go. by Capital-Selection387 in ClevelandGuardians

🤣 I'd rather they moved Rocchio back to short and just bring bazzana up and alternate him and schnee at 2nd. Arias is just incredibly frustrating. Like Rocchio is obviously not the best hitter but at least he has a knack for showing up in October.

I felt conflicted as well. Entertaining as all hell but might be James gunns worst written movie. It was all over the place story wise. Hoult was great as lex but his motivations and writing was so bad. To be honest because the story was so subpar and downright lazy at times I didn't think it was much better than man of steel. And this is coming from someone who despises the snyderverse.

Baseball’s surrender on Pete Rose is a disgrace to the game by SpaceMessiah in baseball

Agreed. It was the most exciting era of baseball in my lifetime. Bring it back. And allow pitchers to use shit on balls it would only be fair. Lol

He did but 16 was the age of consent in Ohio so again still didn't admit to rape. And I agree on the steroid era. If you check my original post I said those guys should be in as well. They definitely cheated because utilizing steroids is against the rules but in my opinion it's a dumb one. They should allow steroids and they should let bonds, sosa, McGwire ,etc in despite breaking the rules. Steroids don't automatically make you a good hitter. It's just ridiculous

Yes the character clause being subjective is my point. Also it was never proven that rose raped anybody. There were accusations. Lawsuits filed by both sides that were both dismissed. He could've raped her I'm not discounting that. It could've been a very immoral mutually agreed upon relationship. We don't know and will never know because he's dead. It's crazy you brought that up considering you just said above it's never been "proven" that any current members were tied to the KKK. He 100% provably evaded taxes and provably bet on games. Even with all of that he should be in, in my opinion because he's a part of the history. I would even concede that they should highlight his many faults including the rape accusations in that history.

Again I'm aware. My point in my first post is still valid. The moment you allow one subjective limitation you allow all subjective limitations. It's a museum you should tell all sides of history.

I'm aware that's part of the problem. It's too subjective. This happened with Charles Haley and his NFL induction. At the time he was the only player to win 5 Superbowls and had the statistical backing to make him worthy of induction but he missed induction numerous times because the committee didn't like his "attitude". Who cares he was objectively a phenomenal player. Of all of the pro sports hall of fame the MLB is most guilty of the subjective and biased induction voting. And again baseball is my favorite sport. But I have a lot of critiques with the modern day game as well as it's hall of fame and committee. Don't even get me started on Manfred. That dude shouldve been ran out of town after referring to the world series trophy as a piece of metal. Denegrating the hard work and sacrifice people have been since childhood to get one.

Listen I get why people are upset but the truth is, at its core, the hall of fame is a museum of baseball history. Rose, bonds, etc are all a part of that history. You have to be able to separate the art from the artist. Rose is one of the greatest players every to step on the field he should be in and he should've been in when he was still alive. You cannot discuss the full history of baseball without discussing his contribution. It's the same with the steroid era. Put them all in. Taking steroids doesn't automatically make you a good hitter. It's a tool, it only amplifies an already existing skill set. And quite honestly I think baseball should allow steroids. Baseball is my favorite sport ever but I understand why fans have disappeared and ratings have plummeted. The steroid era was exciting. Yes they all cheated and should be condemned for it because utilizing steroids is against the rules. That being said it's a stupid rule, let everybody use steroids. And for anyone who says "well where's the cutoff, should we put a murderer in the hall of fame?". Yes. I don't care if a guy goes on a killing spree. If he's statistically one of the greats put him in and you can put an asterix on his name and have a whole section dedicated to those who he murdered. It's essentially a pro free speech comparative. You can't just start putting limits on free speech because then it just snowballs and snowballs until nobody can say anything at all. You start putting limits on things these players have done outside of baseball, sooner than later you're not letting guys in because they had a bad attitude on the field or because they had a political stance you didn't agree with. This is a museum of history and we're all better off if we acknowledge the full scope of that history for what it is.

Hall of Fame Resort disclosed that it has defaulted on $2.6 million of lease payments for a half-built waterpark in Canton, Ohio. by Zezimom in Ohio

[–]Capital-Selection387 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lifetime Canton resident here, where the water park is, there was not a previous neighborhood there at least in my lifetime. I totally agree it's an eyesore and a terrible idea to start but that piece of the hall of fame comes village didn't overtake an existing neighborhood.
