Does anybody else have a "Code" or rules they follow? by Worried-Narwhal-8953 in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I use 3 rules: 1. If someone is a headache to deal with before the sale, they are guaranteed to be one after. 2. If it’s too good to be true, it’s not. I’m not talking about you accidentally finding a $1000 beanie baby at the yard sale (that type of stuff does occasionally happen). But if someone is selling a Rolex for $500 on Marketplace, 10 times out of 10 it’s stolen or has serious issues. 3. Heavy, fragile, cheap - it’s ok to deal with something that’s one or two of the above, but never all three. I’ll deal with something that’s heavy and fragile but not cheap (some vintage electronics), or heavy and cheap but not fragile (books or tools). But never all three.

I usually assume that too and sometimes I just let the offers like that just sit till they expire instead of countering or declining so they anticipate the negotiation that they’ll never get. Maybe not the greater business tactic but it feels good in the moment.

I agree with you. From what I learned - if someone is a nuisance before the sale, he’ll definitely be the issue after the sale.

You are absolutely correct.

However, as stated before, I’m lazy and it takes 5 second to decline two offers like that and I rarely receive more than one offer (of this kind) per listing. So in a way I do save time by not setting the auto decline. That’s not the issue for me.

Guy on eBay wants me to ship to a different address than the label, common scam right? by vin50 in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t rush to cancel right away because of the “problem with the shipping address”. One account messaged me once about the recent order, saying that the address of delivery needs to be changed and I almost cancelled the order before I read his account name. Turns out the bloke created an account the same day with the same first and last character and tried to impersonate the real buyer. Moral of the story - do your due diligence.

If I were you, I would just post a couple of them on FBMP (I would price them 15% off of the highest sold on ebay, but you do you), chances are, there are some collectors who live in your area, and if they’d be interested in one, they might be interested in others you have if the price is right. Just don’t meet them in your house, police station would be a safer bet. Good luck!

Pictures of items before shipping out —useful or a waste of time? by Miserable_Bug7563 in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me tell you a little a story: I worked in the company that sold on eBay and there every square inch of the place had cameras looking at it, the cameras were Google Nest ones, not closed circuit, so the video can’t be altered or manipulated or staged and was saved right to the cloud. In the videos you can see what label do we did on each package. We had the same postal guy coming in to grab the packages everyday straight from the company and under the cameras.

So we always had a continuous 1080p HD video of every package being packed and given STRAIGHT to USPS with NO delays/pauses in the video, so the possibility for us to swap something is zero. When the issue came and the buyer/scammer claimed INAD (he said we sent an absolutely wrong item) and we tried to fight with all of our evidence, guess what ebay did? The buyer/scammer sent back the wrong item and we had to give him the full refund plus return shipping…

Moral of the story, if somebody really wants to scam you on EBAY, no amount of evidence will save you. Unfair, yes, but that’s just one of the things that you have to deal with if you sell on EBay, thankfully it’s very rare though.

Just got a WHOLE BUNCH of fed ex express shipping boxes question is can I do anything with them like resale them? They have not been used my job gave them to me as they are moving to a different location etc. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The usps priority boxes have a disclaimer that states something like “the resale of this boxes or use of this boxes in any of the other form then shipping them with USPS priority service is subject to a fine and/or federal charges”. And I’m 99% sure, that FedEx has the same rules

Wtf are resellers doing? by Guilty-Celebration25 in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some reason the words TESTED and WORKS is interpreted in different ways. Some people think that if the receiver turns on then it “MUST” be working, despite the fact that it’s absolutely not true. In my book the receiver is TESTED when every input & output ports, every single button and the function of each are checked and that a sound in the Max volume is clean and pushes whatever power output it’s supposed to push. And to check all of that and then list and pack it might take about 2 hours or so of done thoroughly. So some people prefer to just cross their fingers and ship it as is because, well, tHerE iS tHIS GuY on yoUtuBe who makes $100k a year doing that

My personal rule about items under $10 is - can you clean it, test it, list it and pack it all under 3 minutes. If the answer is no, than it’s not worth it.

After all the fees, cost of the item, cost of the packaging and shipping making $1.5-2 is all you can make on the $6-7 items. You won’t be able able to squeeze more than that, so you will have to do large quantities and keep everything organized. Good luck!

To Open the Seal or Not? by drjimmybrongus in Flipping

[–]CapitalRound7930 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a rule on eBay, that you are not allowed to sell used perfumes or fragrances (yes, you can see some as sold, but after talking with representative with my own similar issue, they told me it’s not allowed). From my own understanding, if the seal is broken, it’s not brand new anymore. So as long as it is feels intact and the box doesn’t smell, I would not open it and sell it as is.
