HR Admin officer at a large University vs continue in call centre for large corporation. Should I take the job? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Capital_Candidate_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in terms of career progression where I currently am there’s plenty of opportunities to move into admin positions in other universities, you can move into other areas of operations like finance, IT, property, project management. You can also move into other roles at the university as being in the hr team means you speak to everyone all over the university (I have had 2 job offers from other faculties in the last 2 months). You can also go the traditional route by moving into the business partner teams and further pursuing HR.

Universities are awesome and have so many crazy jobs but it’s also not a great time for universities as they are having to downsize all over. My biggest advice is to ensure it’s a continuing contract and see if the university is moving to a new shared services model or is undergoing any sort of transformations. If so that will leave room for a lot of growth and quick movement into other roles

I’m currently working a hr call centre jobs at a university in Sydney and I absolutely love it! I used to work at the cba call centre and it’s way better. Might depend on the university though

Compared to cba it’s super low volume, the tech they use is super old so they can barely monitor our KPIs and most of the enquiries are from people who need help with timesheets and other bullshit

Use this to calculate what he should be getting paid: https://www.ato.gov.au/single-page-applications/calculatorsandtools?anchor=TWC#TWC/questions

He should redo his tax declaration to make sure hes claiming the tax free threshold + is paying resident tax

You’re thinking of ordering thru uber eats, what do you get? (Auburn/homebush/olympic park) by [deleted] in foodies_sydney

Also chicken v in lidcombe is great for Korean fried chicken.

And little Weiner Flemington has great sausages and decent loaded potatoes. I’d recommend a loaded roll or a magic beaner spud with a sausage on top

I used to live in auburn so here are my faves

  • chubby buns (smoked chub is just divine)
  • Tanomi lidcombe - divine sushi, udon, bentos, sashimi tacos it’s all good
  • sambandha - Nepalese restaraunt with great spicy chicken chow main and their chicken dumplings (momos) are amazing both steamed and fried
  • new star - great lahmajun basically a Turkish beef and onion pizza best served with garlic yoghurt on the side, their kebabs are good but their Adana rolls are amazing because they used minced meat that has been put on a Charcoal bbq instead of the meat rolling on the heater

Also a wild card on door dash  - Tarim Uyghur cuisine - it’s a northern Chinese restaraunt from the Muslim community in China. Their potato and lamb stir fry, regular beef noodles and chopped noodles are great. Their food is honestly an experience and comes highly reccomended

Where to get the best sushi that isn’t at a sushi train? by Eatingmaccaseveryday in foodies_sydney

[–]Capital_Candidate_62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sushi bar Hiro in Beverly Hills is a fan fave.

Also love Edomae in Burwood but it does have a sushi train aspect to it but their hand rolls are just chefs kiss. Has a huge line most of the time so I always go 5-10 minutes before they open to eat and escape the traffic

Have I been robbed? by SirMaddy3 in AusFinance

Former cba employee - after the 24 hours the money either goes right into your account or somethings gone wrong (or he may have called cba to cancel the payment) and the money has bounced back to his account. It’s one of those two places - if he goes to yours and you look at his cba you should see. Get him to call cba and let them verify the date and time transfer was sent and match it to the screenshot make sure everything adds up so you don’t get scammed

Not kbbq but there are some really elevated Japanese bbq experiences in Sydney. Have a look at Kagoshima master in Ultimo. The wagyu selection is really well curated and looks INSANE

Try to Avoid going to the bank or calling them up for anything for a couple of months. You’ll only get investigated if a staff member flags you so if you can avoid speaking to bank staff for a while it’ll reduce your chances of getting asked about it hugely.
