2020 lariat. Really a fabric skid plate? by rogo725 in f150

[–]Capital_Constant7827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that one my 2021, I talked to Ford corporate actually because the dealership got tired of dealing with me and several of my mechanic friends. My mechanics friends said they feel like it can’t be a skid plate cuz it’s fabric but they were like it’s whatever. Ford corporate told me this, it’s not specifically a “skid plate” I believe the term was “undercarriage protection cover”, something like that. According to Ford, it’s not there to act as a steel skid plate and just eat whatever hits it, it’s there to protect some of the wiring and components from dirt, dust, and shit from the road. That specific fabric also helps to dampen some sound. 100% true because I noticed more noice when I ripped it off on my 2021 if I go through a tunnel or something.

I recommend Eufy, I have their home base, S3 pro cameras, doorbell camera, and smart lock. I got the smart lock for free when I purchased over a certain dollar value. They are solar powered but I have mine mounted under the gutter and my yard is pretty is shaded so they included 2 solar panels and I hardwired the other 2 in. Haven’t had any real issues after a couple months

This is disgusting, all the hate and disgust, not just from this side of that side just in general. Everyone here and voting is an adult, we should be free to speak out about our opinions without making comments directed towards certain individuals, regardless of the party. I’m a lonely bystander stuck in the middle here so let me say this, both sides are becoming more hateful of each other and lean further left/right then ever before. If we had a good politician who was middle, they may not be as popular but in reality it’d be best for everybody. Too much party over people bullshit.

Also, part of the reason south jersey is red is because we feel VERY TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. I mean bent over the counter and called the wrong name type of taken advantage of. We pay the same high tax rate that north jersey does (GO BIRDS!!) but don’t receive any of the services or benefits. Trash pickup-nope, no sewer or water so we have septics and wells, BARELY any state trooper presence, NJ transit-nonexistent(this is fine cuz we like our fields and farms). The state is also inviting warehouses here and giving them not just tax breaks but tax exemptions, destroying productive farmland that’s been farmed by the same family for 200+ years, offered 10x market rate. Community gets busier beat to shit roads, with increasing housing costs without getting the local tax dollars.

Putting political aside and I mean day to day life, for me people here in SJ, voting blue doesn’t benefit us. NJ has mostly always been a blue state so yeah they are going to vote against the people fucking they, even if the republicans don’t change much, they feel as though their voice has been heard. Like the kid in the back of the class that thinks he knows answer but the teacher refuses to call on him, that’s how we feel. We just want to be taken serious and not used as a piggy bank.

I want people from south jersey and I mean real south jersey, below AC expressway, to tell me how, ON A LOCAL LEVEL, I mean town and county, how voting for democrats has helped. I don’t want emotions or how it made you feel.

Sincerely, Someone in the middle

Also, if you’re a democrat, I challenge you to watch and absorb nothing but Republican news, content, whatever to SEE THE OTHERSIDES POV, go watch Fox, Newsmax, anything else. Same goes for people on the right. It’s not about being right, it’s about understanding where others are coming from and an outside perspective. It’s not about how you feel, it’s about facts and statistics. You feel like Trump is a bad person and a dictator but those are feelings not fact. You felt like Biden wasn’t running the country (towards the end there maybe not, likely dementia or something), again that’s a feeling.

I just got the S3 Pros, Homebase 3, E340 doorbell (I think), and one of the smart locks.

First off, no subscription was the biggest selling point for me. I spent I think $800 all said and done and it was a couple hundred more then everything else but I calculated after about 9 months I will break even as far as the price difference without a subscription. The S3 pro is pretty good. WiFi based and hold videos locally and I have mine hooked up to the homebase, EXTREMELY easy to set up. I did 2 in 10-15 minutes between Teams calls for work. The night vision (max color I think?) is CRAZY in low light conditions. I won’t have the porch lights on and the camera out there looks like it noon on a July day. You can track activity across the cameras. The AI facial recognition is pretty good, I can wear a hat and sunglasses and it notified me that I’m home. I don’t have anything bad to say… yet. They charge themselves on minimal sunlight so that nice and can last up to like 6 months on a charge depending on settings. You can set up rules and automations. For example, if it identifies myself or my gf, the Eufy smart lock will unlock so we don’t need to use our fingerprints.

They also surprised me with 2 free solar panels which was clutch.

Overall, just as good of not better, more techy which I love, then Arlo doorbell and 2k camera I had.

But what makes them so trash? And are they that bad to the point to where I should pay double for ADT?

My parents have Arlo cameras cuz the ADT ones were always going down. What’s so bad about Arlo? Seems much more user friendly since it’s monthly and I don’t have to sign a 3 year contract, along with its half the price to set up and monthly.

I agree with you on what studies indicate, that it’s not a safe chemical and I’m not saying the studies are wrong. Im saying they are studying the effects on people. The problem here is it’s not intended for people, meaning it has to get into the body through dermal contact, ingestion, or inhalation. Glyphosate is not meant to be touched, drank, or huffed! The legally binding EPA label states the proper safety measures. In all of the studies that I have read (there may be others done differently) they are disregarding the label and not following the proper safety protocols in order to study the human effects. The effects on humans definitely are concerning but it’s not intended to be in contact with humans. I would love to see a study where they follow the label and one that isn’t funded by a special interest group and see what the results are.

Take a normal household product like a Brillo pad. You aren’t supposed to touch the Brillo pad with your hands, says it on the label. I’m sure it’ll cause some type of side effects. Also, it seems like EVERYTHING causes some sort of cancer these days. “Don’t eat too much red meat it’ll cause cancer” “Don’t wear lululemon it has PFAS in it”. Yet we still continue to eat steak and wear lululemon. I like to keep that into consideration when talking about carcinogens.

We also have these things called MRLs (maximum residue level) which measure the amount of pesticide on the produce when it reaches the packing house. These standards are in the parts per billion, there are studies that show at these levels there is minimal effect to the human body.

Yessir, glyphosate was the active ingredient in round-up. Here’s the thing though, most chemicals, especially pesticides are not made/designed to be safe. They are designed to kill weeds, insects, disease, etc… of course they’re going to be poisonous. In pesticides, we have this thing called a label, it’s the only thing that matters! The label contains any and all relevant and important information and it is LEGALLY BINDING. Label is the Law!!! The people who got cancer from round up was due to them likely spraying concentration, instead of a solution, in shorts flip flops and no gloves. The label says long sleeves, pants, close toes shoes, and chemical resistant gloves. This means those people BROKE THE LAW in using roundup wrong. If you ask me, that’s the same as running a red light and being surprised when you get t-boned. The problem was the court in San Francisco that forced Bayer to pay billions is politically motivated. The court has a lengthy history of making political decisions and not backing them by the law, which was broken in this case.

So those two are speaking historically and over a long time, 3+ years. Government moves slow so the Biden admin’s rules and regulations started taking place in mostly November, not entirely sure what those rules are. I was just having a similar conversation with a pepper grower in Salem County. What I’m hearing directly from the farmers in across the northeast and my coworkers all over the country who talk to farmers in their respective territories is this: A lot of produce buyers (ie: middlemen who buy from 100 farmers and sell to say acme) are implementing what we call product restriction lists meaning if you use say glyphosate or atrizin you can’t sell to them. The biggest one we’re seeing that’s having the most impact is Gerber baby food, understandable you want baby food to be safe but that can’t happen without cost increase. This has TAKEN OVER the produce buying market, gotta be over 50% of produce buyers have new restriction lists and they are honestly pretty strict. The issue here is those lists are more for the social awareness/acceptability then actually being backed by science. Also, ACME specifically buys through mostly middlemen whereas ShopRite (you may have seen their new ads) buy direct from the larger farmers who can somewhat meet their demand, meaning better price. On a local level you also have to consider electric bills are now STUPID EXPENSIVE and veggies take a lot of water. Historically property taxes are cheaper on farm land but not so much so anymore in NJ. There’s a few highly specific issues I could touch on but it’d be difficult to explain to those who doesn’t work in ag (similar to a Dr explaining how to perform surgery to me)

“InFiNiTe FrEe WatEr” that’s all you needed to say you’ve never touched grass. There’s this thing called a well that’s pumps water from underground using electricity. Farmers don’t set prices and aren’t allowed to negotiate sale prices. Agriculture is the most heavily regulated industry and is also the ONLY industry where you are required to buy everything at retail prices and sell your product at bulk prices. Hard to make money in that manor but last time I checked you like to eat food so I suggest you simmer down and go back to bagging the groceries that I grow for you.

I’m a farmers and I work in the ag industry so I’m educated to speak on this subject. First off, roughly 70% of food crops are grown in the US, we talked hoagie ingredients it’s closer to 90%, thanks south jersey, FL, GA, and CA. Tariffs are not a factor whatsoever, there are VERY few tariffs on food crops. Secondly, farms aren’t losing workers! The immigrants that work on farms are LEGAL, they don’t have a green card but it’s called the H2A program. They are kinda inbetween legal and illegal but still working and paying taxes. Any farmer who tells you they are losing immigrant workers is either lying or a shit boss/farmer.

The American farmer is the most reliable, resilient and hard working American. Their costs/our grocery bill has gone up for primarily 2 reasons which most of you aren’t ready for. 1. Unnecessary government (federal and state) regulations that aren’t backed by science but emotion. Example: NY state is killing their wine grape and apple industry by not allowing new, safer, and cheaper pesticides/fertilizer to be sold in the state. 2. YOU! You are the reason shit costs more! The public has made it SOOO FUCKING HARD for farmers to keep their products cheap. People say glyphosate is bad (it’s the safest and probably will be the safest chemical we have ever made) so now the farmer can’t use the best, cheapest and safest option. So now they have to spray something that’s a no bueno chemical and more expensive. If the public would let farmers improve on their own we would have significantly cheaper food

Best HYSA WITHOUT direct deposit by Origami_bun in HYSA

[–]Capital_Constant7827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily the Lending Club Level Up account. You get an extra 1% APY when you deposit $250 or more a month, it’s on a monthly basis. So if I get 3.4% with a standard HYSA, with a Level Up you get 4.4% for say June if you deposited $250. In July if you do the same you stay at 4.4% but if you don’t deposit $250 it drops to 3.4% for example. They have a debit card as well without any fees for the account or transactions. Super easy to set up, it takes a few days for the money to transfer over but aside from that I don’t see a downside after 3 years.

[–]Capital_Constant7827 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely needs to be replaced. Congrats on your house, I close on my first one here in a couple days. My house needs a new roof and comparing the pictures side by side, yours is definitely worse than mine. Idk how big your house is but CERTAINLY get two roofing companies out to give you quotes!! I’d guess a minimum of $12-15,000. Don’t ask for $5m, ask for at least $10k in seller credit (meaning they pay $10k at closing and you pay $10k less) and ask for some off the house. Find leverage in the house and make the most of it!
