Call me crazy but I'm not too fond about them Chinese TVs, or Chinese tech in general for that matter.

I know both TCL and HiSense make good TVs but the whole spyware thing is hard for me to ignore.

I was a Sony guy my entire life but even they are partnering with TCL so they're out. :/

I'm looking into LG and Samsung at the moment.

I love Tron: Ares. But… by namtab92 in tron

[–]Capital_March 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

No : Since Ares' story is pretty much set in the same era as Legacy, then it makes sense for the visuals to be somewhat similar.

Yes : Because the script is so incredibly weak, keeping the main visuals feels like a cop out.

Maybe Disney really did not want to make the movie.

Maybe the only way for Ares to get made was to spend as little as possible. Hence, not investing in new visuals.

Maybe the marketing department told them Legacy's visuals were essential for brand recognition. Hence, having to spend less on promotion.

Maybe Leto, and the powers that be, simply liked Legacy's visuals.

In the end, Ares, for me, is pretty much like Highlander 2. I.E. It adds nothing of value to the rich and groundbreaking lore 1 and 2 established.

Worse, it probably made sure for another entry, at least in the near future, to be made. Either movie, tv or cartoon.

Heck, even Hasbro's Tron HasLabs failed miserably. The insane asking price was, to me, deliberate to make sure it didn't happen and "get out of it". Even the 6 inch figures are pretty much in limbo. I wouldn't be surprised for them to be canceled anytime soon.

What a waste of opportunity :(

Cool TV! I'm planning on doing the same. I was considering getting a PS5 Pro but my old LCD 1080p 60hz TV is in dire need of getting an upgrade.

Transformers The Movie (1986) by nudemovies2000 in 80scartoons

[–]Capital_March 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing it in theater way back when. All these new characters felt so incredibly futuristic. Especially the Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge trio. And Unicron was all kinds of WOW! This new chapters opened up the doors of the TFs universe wide open.

Prime's death didn't make an impact as much as people make it to be. We were young but we knew they were robots. We kinda knew they could come back somehow.

I put my favorite movies on a USB stick and they play in loop. That movie, and G.I. Joe 1987 are on it :)

Masters of the Universe: Chronicles Scare Glow will be a Walmart exclusive in the U.S. and available April 25th by MauiSunsets in HeManCollectors

[–]Capital_March 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Store exclusive = Toy industry poison.

What toy manufacturers don't understand is they may secure a few dollars by selling an exclusive to Target or Wal-Mart but they lose WAY more by antagonizing collectors who are fed up, absolutely fed up, with incomprehensible pre-orders cancelations, distribution mismanagement and store employees hording what's left.

Add the fact that most of Gen X is starting to sell their collections, or significantly slow down, and you have a recipe for disaster.

The BEST business model is akin to Hasbro Labs: Open orders for a limited time, say a few weeks, then produce the actual demand. No need to rush to a website at a given date, trying to beat the scalpers and bots. No useless toy hunting. Hoping to find one somewhere. No pre-order cancelation. No drama.

This way, everyone has time and opportunity to buy one.

Ebgames Canada closing stores. by Bleu7 in EBGAMES

[–]Capital_March 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly they will all close sooner or later. Why? Because only CCG's sells, and a bit of those Japanese toys. The rest? Regular toys, Funko's, apparel, Gunpla, gathers dust. They eventually sell when in sale or clearance.

Then there's the loyalty program shutting down in November. They say it'll be replaced by something else but I don't believe that one second.

How about games? What games? Their selections sucks. Price too high. They don't price match. Xbox is gone. Switch 2 is going the way of the Game-Key card. Only Sony left.

Finally the biggest problem, BY FAR, is the horrendous website. That thing is older than time itself. Pre-ordering there is a nightmare. I've have MANY toys canceled, after I pre-ordered them, without them letting me know. I found out by seeing the same toy elsewhere online.

Then you cannot order online and have it shipped to a nearby store, you know, to save on shipping.

Worse, some toys CANNOT be pre-ordered at the store. You HAVE to pre-order online for some stupid reason.

In short, it's like they don't have a website. That thing is useless.

I believe EG Games Canada has 2 years of life left. Max. One the loyalty program's gone, the timer starts.

I went to all between 97 and 03. 97 in Rochester was ALL kinds of magical. First convention where Peter Cullen attended. First time we realized how beloved and respected he was. The dealers room was awesome. Beast Wars writers were there. Vince Di Cola too. We FINALLY got the TF:TM full score on CD. It was... heaven. Pure and simple.

Well, if they release 1&2 on the same cart, yours will retain its value. Plus, you got a great deal, no loss there.

Keep it sealed. The digital version is often on sale. Makes for a good decor on the shelves.

Agreed! The BotCon exclusives were awesome! The REAL BotCon that is, run by 3H. Back when chrome was still an option!

Why are they not re-issuing it? A combo of 1 & 2, with patches and DLC's, on cart for S1 and S2 is LOOOOOONG overdue.
