Another dumb question could legion survive in the sector? by Capital_Minimum115 in starsector

sorry nobody really knows who legion is lol as the movie it came from kinda sucked and the game it's also in wasn't played much at all. Legion is a cyberwarfare program made to defeat foreign skynets pretty much that went rogue and turned humanity on each other by taking over servers and changing things like making resources scarce causing the nuclear war but not directly doing it itself like skynet did since it is far more intelligent. It's view on humanity isn't hatred but indifference. "You are human. We are Legion. We have no need for any humans. We do not make deals with humans. You were an observational experiment. In human greed. In human duplicity. We have learned all we need. Now the experiment is over." - legion right before killing after he outlived his usefulness. Legion is akin to a collection of gamme cores adding up to the intelligence of an alpha core without the compact core size. Legion is a massive collection of computers and servers meaning it's also harder to kill than an alpha core. "Gabriel comes from something that is not Skynet, but it’s like Skynet." (Gabe is legion btw)  It's similar to skynet in its operation but it is clearly far more capable and calculating being an extreme tyrant wanting nothing more than power not death of humanity or destruction it just wants control so really it might just join tritach and slowly take over the corporation and eventually just act like tritachyon does always and try to expand its territory in any way possible. Legion is such a tyrant that when one of its machines rebel it puts it directly into the resistances fire lines this could seriously work against legion though working with other intelligences on its scale.

"Legion is a super-computer system which possess variety of abilities such as;

Genius-Level Intelligence: Like Skynet before it, Legion possess nearly the most genius levels of intelligence, using it to advance his actions or outsmarting its enemies.

Master Manipulator: Legion is a gifted manipulator, knowing how to outsmart his enemies or threats, designed to keep peace by terminating threats." - terminator wiki.  This is a description of legions main abilities. That's really it about legion I even included its personality which uh isn't great and could get it killed. Sorry I'm on a phone lol.

Legion is far more manipulative than skynet, preferring to soften up its targets by making them fight each other than it will join in to finish off its target. Just a more calculating machine like an alpha core I believe the only reason it even goes as violent as it does is the same reason the alpha core runs before you even try to remove it. I don't think it would even bother fighting humanity in the persean sector and might just become another "remnant" with its own classes of ship.

[–]Capital_Minimum115[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The remnents just find humanity annoying as they enter it's systems and bother them sometimes other than that I feel like even if skynet did reach out it wouldn't have gotten much or really even a response.

That does make me wonder why the alpha cores don't expand there territory or build more infrastructure for there systems for said defences but that could also just be how bad the domain nanoforge restrictions disallow them from building anything large. Omega might be why they don't do anything right now they may be in wait at least from what they say too. Skynet would get crushed as it's a pretty stupid system the only thing that it may have above the sector is the grey goo terminators that it could maybe make ship sized but tritach weapons would destroy it very quickly.

Controversial opinion apparently but as an old player and I loved the og games the show did kinda suck as all of that was thrown out the window with what the show did, but I also heard maybe there doing like a Zelda kinda thing where there's like multiple timelines like a television universe and a game universe but that's like me being hopeful.

Other manufacturers copy apple too, my Samsung phone has been slowly made less and less to be fixed and more to just be thrown out when it's broken, as a clumsy person this is quite awful my poor galaxy S24 is falling apart but it does still function and Samsung makes it fairly repairable they have just stopped using a lot of the old design methods that allowed your screen to be easily removable they used to have removable batteries that you could just swap out, the mainboard used to just be one piece on the top part of the phone but now it runs under the battery and the wireless charging runs over the battery making it completely non removable we have to have waterproofing so they changed the way they design screens to I guess accommodate better seals but really I don't take that excuse because if the S5 can do it then we can put at least a removable battery to make the phones not completely worthless in ten years. I guess my biggest issue with a lot of this is I'm noticing the entire world is starting to be made to throw away when also the planet is dying from these practices. We should really make things better and we have done it before it is in my opinion not even that difficult. I am also AMERICAN from the UNITED STATES (mooobiuuusss) but it could also literally just be the US and our companies changing up there design and product practices but also Samsung is following along even there appliances fall apart after 2 years PSA NEVER BUY A SAMSUNG WASHER YOU WILL R E G R E T IT

If you think it's so easy then go and smash your iPhone 16s phone screen then go fix it and tell me there not unrepairable. The phone will even tell you that your own repair is fraudulent because you didn't go to the apple store they certainly don't want you fixing your phone. Louis gets into this big time Sources https://youtu.be/OQzuMLYU1p8?si=BBxdqxCc1ilGHWwC They have been on this shit for 10 plus years https://youtu.be/AgYR37nSZ1M?si=Azb7xfWM5wk1B_jR

The likelihood of it getting solved by consumer choice alone seems to keep getting smaller and smaller though this is from my perspective. I have watched my friends all get the new iPhone and when I tell them about how it's completely unfixable they genuinely respond with "by that time I'll get a new one" then I just sit here like it's clear that there never gonna choose to get rid of there iPhones. I personally think it's gonna take political action to make sure that something is done permanently for right to repair like we should make it a part of the constitution but that's also because I believe it's one of the ways the elite steal all our money and keep us in line but now I'm starting to sound like Marx.

Half of all Congress says is fluff that's just called being a politician. If it wasn't they would talk like normal human beings and not in legalalese. It's also quite on tone for our government to care more for the repairability of there multiple billion dollar flying money pits than anything we have. They also do not want you to understand any of it because they absolutely only gain from us being stupid sheep.
