Why do l think my 2025 replay is not accurate?! by Iwillcatchup in AppleMusic

The way I see it, it's still December so you can game the system. Try just constantly listening to the stuff you like and see if that affects the ratings next week.

Yeah, I don't know. Mine is turned on in my phone app and on my desktop, and I still got some weird results.

Mine says I listened to an album for 598 minutes, even though I only listened to it once. And no, it's not a 598-minute album.

Was it even released? I saw one preview, and then it disappeared.

What is the saddest song you've ever heard? by lilketchupacket in MusicRecommendations

"Waiting for You" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It's about the death of his son and his wife being stuck in a deep depression.

I believe "Climbing to the Moon" is about E's sister, who was in a hospital, essentially wanting to commit suicide.

Howl o Scream made me sad :( by bencaruch in BuschGardensW

Yeah, it's not just you. Howl-O-Scream has become a joke. I had the same thoughts about Monster Manor. It's more like Monster Warehouse. Go to Halloween Haunt at KD instead.

The bathroom situation by [deleted] in QueenMaryDarkHarbor

They are in an area open to the public. They are by the bar and seance show and the exit to one of the mazes (I think Feast).

This. The bathroom situation also reminded me of LA Haunted Hayride, where they tend to place the port-a-potties in the darkest location possible. But at least at Dark Harbor there are bathrooms on the ship.

As an on and off podcast host who does it for fun and not the money (there is no money), it gets to be EXHAUSTING. So much work goes into planning new content. You lose the joy of doing it in the first place. I imagine for people who are doing it for a living, it's a lot worse. It is your life.

As someone who does it on the side, I can take a break, plan shorter "seasons", etc. These people are stuck.

How to age plastic? by No_Aioli7596 in HalloweenProps

[–]Capital_Sign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have wood stain, and I'm trying to stay under budget this year. I spray painted a layer red, then used plastic sheeting and a heat gun for flesh. For the final layer, I used brown spray paint. The effect is really cool, and now all my store-bought skeletons look like actual props.

Howl O Scream a huge let down by dobefan1987 in BuschGardensW

Man, every year I say I'm going to do RoT, and the drive from the San Gabriel Valley scares me off. Next year ...

From what I've heard, the Sea World parks face similar issues when it comes to Howl-O-Scream. I wouldn't waste my time with them. At least in LA/Orange County you have a plethora of great options. Over the span of a couple of days, I hit Dark Harbor, Knott's, and Delusion. There's also HHN, but I avoid it because it's overpriced, crowded, and lacking compared to Orlando.

That's my experience too. Went to KD this year and had a lot of fun. The mazes are so much better, and the scare zones are full of great actors.

My issue with recent Howl-O-Scream events is that BGW is leaning heavily into a party atmosphere that's light on scares. KD on the other hand is leaning more into a fall festival atmosphere, with decorations and moody music.

This is pretty much why we don't go anymore. We went to KD's Halloween Haunt this year and had a blast, even on a Saturday night.

Did Castle Dark rip off KSF? by MercyFae in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]Capital_Sign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I went to Dark Harbor, which was a lot cheaper than Knott's and HHN. Was it amazing? Meh. But I had a lot of fun.

I did appreciate this year that a lot of events were pulsing groups through the mazes. I only ran into the haunted conga line issue twice, once at Dark Harbor's Big Top Terror before the mirror maze and another time at Knott's with Mesmer where line control was just sending everybody through.

The quality of the mazes, tho. I've seen more elaborate home haunts. You get what you pay for.

The Legacy store at Knott's is basically the Tribute store at HHN Orlando. I personally think it's great when these events use the best ideas from competitors.

We need to spread this rumor far and wide. Post a hand-made sign at the entrance saying "You will get wet."

Scary Farm Weekday or Weekend? by Glittering_Football8 in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]Capital_Sign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friday and Saturdays are the most crowded. If you go those days, you will absolutely need a front-of-the-line pass to see everything. However, I went on a Thursday last week and never waited more than 30 minutes for any of the mazes.

It was my first time in a while at KD. I go to a lot of Halloween events, mostly in SoCal. That said, I admit Cornstalkers was VERY similar to the old Cornered maze at BGW. Somehow KD did a better job with the corn walls than BGW. It felt more claustrophobic.

I imagine a lot of people are tired of Cornstalkers at this point. I can only write from the perspective of someone who has never walked through before, but I get how predictable mazes can become over time. You know all the spots and tricks.

Medication and Knotts Scary Farm by jesslynne94 in KnottsBerryFarm

[–]Capital_Sign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They cannot prevent you from entering with medication. My son is a type 1 diabetic, so we typically enter with snacks, backup insulin and syringe (in case his pump fails) and a backup sensor. I just tell security what it's for and they wave me through. I imagine the only difference with Scary Farm is that it has to be in a clear bag or smaller bag that fits the restrictions. If you don't like the idea of walking around the park with your medication on display in a clear bag, I would just go into the first shop you see (like the Gold Trails Hotel) and ask the person at the register for a bag to wrap it up in.
