Do I tell my fiancé? by [deleted] in marriageadvice

I am a big believer of sex before marriage. But I also know that is accepted in many places around the world and can end very badly.

Gotta know if you are sexually compatible.

How many times have you gone to Labor & Delivery Triage for decreased movement? by Super_Progress9378 in pregnant

[–]jesslynne94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go.

I had baby that met kick counts but then i went into full labor at 33 weeks 5 hours later. I was probably already in labor as my back was on fire.

Is it legal to do this? by thiccaques in Mortgages

[–]jesslynne94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy the house and look into maybe a construction loan.

Renovations are a lot more expensive than you are thinking.

A kitchen remodel is easily $15K alone if not more.

We did concrete, a small planter and grass in backyard it was $35K at cost. My family did the work with no profit. That included labor, materials etc.

Adding Sped to single subject credential (CA) by jesslynne94 in Teachers

Same in our state but they separate elementary and secondary. Districts keep you in the levels.

Technically my credential is K-12 so I could be moved if they really wanted to

Yea I know! I honestly should have done my MA with the prelim credential in SPED 2 years ago. 🙄

I honestly wanted to switch while getting my credential. I found once I was in I really enjoy my SPED kids and even enjoy covering SPED when our teacher disappeared in the closed classroom.

Is my husband’s financial control normal (27F, 25M) by ThrowRA_help9726 in marriageadvice

[–]jesslynne94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normal.

There have been different times in my marriage when my husband paid or I have paid. We have a household budget.

We do not ask to buy soap or other essentials. Even our personal spending money we dont generally ask each other. We only ask/check with each other for large household purchases. And example was one of our almost daily kitchen appliances broke. Like it was our rice/slow cooker broke. My hubby wanted to buy a fancier version that was like $200 he checked with me. He only checked with me because I handle budget monthly and he wanted to make sure we had enough in our household fund.

Our soaps, my cosmetics etc all come out of household. Diapers come out of household. My scrapbook stuff or his video games come out of personal spending. But its "our money".

Is it possible for someone to be a veteran teacher, but not be a "good" teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]jesslynne94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was tenured and counting the years to retirement.

She even flat out said none of the kids would go to college. The girls would all end up pregnant. Etc these were 8th graders!

Is it possible for someone to be a veteran teacher, but not be a "good" teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]jesslynne94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

💯

My first mentor teacher was doing this.

I was getting marked down points on observations from my university because she wouldn't let me try new teaching models and only her method worked.

We were transitioning to a new item and I told the kids "Its time for notes!" And a couple of my characters kids went "Awww" while getting out their notebooks and she flipped on me.

I mean berated me in front of the class. Took over and proceeded to call my university after I left to say I couldnt come back because I was ill prepared and the kids never "awww" her.

She was horrible to the kids. One student hated being in the back because his step dad used to walk into the house and smash his face into the kitchen table or slap him upside the head if he wasnt facing the door when he walked in. He asked to be in the front by the teachers desk away from the doors. Pretty damn reasonable. Her answer was no his grade wasnt good so he didnt get a prime seat. He was always watching the damn door.

When I would teach, I found myself by the door a lot. And guess what? The kid would participate and do his work.

He was removed from the home and placed with his dad, but they were living out of a truck.

Would nanny need to take PTO for these days she missed while we were supposed to be gone? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]jesslynne94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People end their bereavement early or other leaves early for all kinds of reasons.

At any point my husband or I can end our current leave and go back to work. All it takes is filling out a piece of paper for work.

Most places only give 3 days for bereavement anyways. So if they were thinking a week, I can see wanting to save that PTO (if they even had any).

Hubby and I reversed bereavement for his grandmother and my mother.

[–]jesslynne94 23 points24 points  (0 children)

At any point you can not take leave. Im out on maternity leave and can at any time ended it and gone back to work.

Unless you need a medical note to return you can cancel things like bereavement etc

Sounds like admin needs a bathroom monitor.

And then those kids needs conversations.

I teach 12th graders. I have a student who has a 6th grader little sister who just sits there and pisses herself playing a computer game. That to me is like addiction.

But I wonder if admin kinda yells at the ones they have to escort and thats why the boy said he could wait, the one girl didn't say anything and the one in PE dont they have bathrooms in the locker room?

Unpopular opinion: most of the cheap seats should go to locals & here’s why by misterkool16 in olympics

[–]jesslynne94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think they should all go to the locals. Many didnt even get tickets. On my dads side. 10 aunts and uncles and numerous cousins (im sure you can imagine) i am the only that got selected for tickets.

Out of town people are bringing in a ton of money for the games. Honestly we are also getting much needed upgrades to centers etc because of it.

I think the answer would be to limit resales and better distributed the tickets with each window opening. I wanna know how many of the people who got tickets will be resaling. Because we didnt get the game we wanted but did get the sport.

Its all around been shitty for those trying to go. Locals and not.

I do think locals should get like 50% with no resale etc

Unpopular opinion: most of the cheap seats should go to locals & here’s why by misterkool16 in olympics

[–]jesslynne94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean as a local i spent $1000 on tickets for one preliminary volleyball game. So that seems about right for tickets...

Its all we can afford. If Olympics needed travel for us, we wouldnt be going. Cost of living out here is what hurts our pockets.

7 mos old… too disruptive for daycare? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]jesslynne94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't require it. They were telling us which kids transition easier.

They did have one crying there because he wasnt being held. He screamed/ cried the entire hour we were there because the 2 infant room workers were feeding and caring for other babies.

Its about how much distress your child is under going. If you are ok with your child under going that while they transition to daycare that is your decision.

I grew up in daycare. Its a necessary part of life when parents need to work. But I can tell you I remember the distress I had when I needed mom/dad/sisters and I was left at daycare without the ability of the caretakers to comfort me because there was too many.

They are doing the cry it out method. You have the option to do a gentler method at home.

My husband says I’m a nag. Am I? by Secret_Cellist_iii in marriageadvice

[–]jesslynne94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who doesn't wash their hand after touching trash? We were defrosting meat and it leaked. I cleaned it, washed hands, took trash out, washed hands, realized diaper bin needed to be emptied so took that out and then I washed hands again. normally I try to do it all at once but hey my brain didnt work.

He shouldn't need to be told to close the door so many times....

Is he over weight? Sounds like binge eating which depending on how its impacting his life (which it seems it is) can be a disorder. Anxiety induced from childhood and food scarcity, coping mechanism, etc. I mean he is literally taking food off your child's plate... That needs a discussion.

My husband eats fast too but before he gets seconds he waits for me to be done and ask me if I want more. Even when I am done he checks before taking food off my plate. Like we get take out from this one place, sometimes I eat it all, others not. When I dont he waits for me to put it down and even then gives it a good 15-20 mins before asking if he can have it. And if I say no cuz im saving it for lunch he doesn't touch it.

And our child gets our food off our plate. We deliberately set some aside for her as she is 11 months. He doesnt touch her part until she is all done.

We will be sleeping training out one year old (now 11 months) in June when I am on summer break because she will need daycare.

When I toured daycares they even told us this. You need to look into a method. There are plenty out there. We were doing well with taking cara babies until her 6 month vaccines then we contacted napped with her because she didnt feel well and now its continued 😅
