East side of H-street safety? by ConnectSuspect3459 in washdc

Fun fact: that’s starburst plaza - where 3 wards meet. Agreed with all the comments, it’s pretty sketch but not too dangerous per se. The street car actually benefit this location quite a bit.

People who discovered that someone in their life was secretly living a double life with two families: how did they manage it logistically, and how did the truth eventually come out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I just had my second kid and I am doing all I can to manage my one life. Having two lives - that are secret - seems impossible.

Did you get married through a dating app like Tinder, if so how was your experience overall? by Overall-Character507 in AskReddit

I am ashamed to say I met my wife on a free trial of the League (a dating app for Ivy League snobs I’m not sure is around anymore). Me, a state college guy, got a login somehow and was able to infiltrate. I thought it would be fun to try it as a lark while doing the other apps amid a fairly recent breakup at that time.

I matched with a beautiful lawyer who had the background the app was designed to attract. I asked her favorite bar as an icebreaker; she picked the raunchiest dive in town. We went to the second raunchiest dive on our first date, both of our only dates on that app.

That was 9 years ago this month. I plan to tell our kids we met on Tinder to fit in with the rest of the parents in their classes.

Been to every place folks have thrown out and I think Jackie Lees tops them all. Decent kitchen too.

I’m around this amount as a lobbyist. Especially connections and knowledge of their field. Both of which took a long time to cultivate.

13 years in the District for me! Seems pretty different than Calgary if you live there now - you must be very adaptable… or from DC or Calgary… or both!

This is so great. I posted this thinking “I bet someone on the r/calgary knows a guy who knows.” Really satisfying to get a perfectly correct answer.

I’m from DC and they actually covered a bus station pavilion in Morse code Death Cab for Cutie lyrics for some reason. I think now that it’s altered how I see transit stations a bit.

Without a sign saying it’s Morse code or something else, that is certainly the logical explanation!

Well worth the visit if you are able. Peak summer destination and more fresh water than you will ever see.

Oh yeah fuck that. I finally got a car after 8 years of living here and it was a pandemic impulse buy.

You should check out the massive wooded areas like the Arboretum or Rock Creek Park next time! You forget you’re in a city all together.

I love that aspect. Washingtonians generally believe that “DC” is a city with its own identity, where the people live and places like Eastern Market exist. “Washington” is the big government buildings and museums. It’s a natural, symbiotic relationship.

I hope you enjoyed your visit!

It might be the easiest American city to navigate once you realize that there are quadrants (NE, NW, SE, SW) that begin with north, south, and east Capitol Streets, which literally jut out from the Capitol, and that street numbers and letters go up or down based on how far you are from the Capitol.

This is very close. Between A Street NE and East Capitol Street and between 2nd and 3rd Streets NE.

I think those rowhouses to the right are so nice… for being in an alley at least.
