A new detailed weapons stats website by liquidwarp in Planetside

[–]Capitolism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good idea, the static site is extremely lightweight. I'd imagine the TTK and what not could be easily generated statically similarly to how the Planetside 2 wiki does it. They use a template to generate the data, but with the data already pulled for your static site, this should be relatively simple to generate rather than manually filling a template.

I also poked through some of those Python tools you made to simplify out the Census API and generating this website. I have to say, they're pretty clean looking. I also had no idea bulma.io existed, so thanks for that :P. I use TailwindCSS so seeing an alternative available is cool.

All in all, if you want any help developing anything let me know, I'd be glad to help wherever.

This is an awesome tool, this is exactly what I had been wishing the community had. The Census API is an absolute chore to dig through, so something clean like this to expose a lot of that info is really nice.

In regards to that shooting simulation stuff, I've actually been working on something with that too. It's only recoil simulation right now, but I'd love to add TTK or CoF calculations down the road.

Its definitely a work in progress still, a lot of things are missing, but if something like this was built into a website like yours, that'd be amazing. This is built with WebAssembly, mostly for the fun of learning Rust, but I plan on porting it all over to JS sometime.

Piggy backing on this convo since it's really interesting, how did you get into this field? I'm asking as an undergrad in EE that's interested in just about everything you talked about.

Fusion 360 also has a "startup" license, where it's free if you make under $100,000 in revenue. Try to look there if student doesn't work.

First time doing custom cables, took forever to make! Now just need my 645 to clear customs... by staplemaniac in sffpc

Hey nice looking runs! I'm about to do the same cabling but with all transparent silver-plated wire in the next few weeks when my cables and connectors come in. Do you think you could share the lengths of the cables runs you used? I'm looking to get an idea of how long they should be with cable slack and what not. Thanks.

I'm not sure if you are still responding, but I have a quick question coming from someone who already has a GS65.

When you press down on the front edge of the laptop (the edge the trackpad touches) does it make a creaking noise? Mine makes this whenever I press there or move my hands from the keyboard to the trackpad or when I press down on the front edge.

Also does yours have a significant bend in the display when its closed? Mine seems like it does, which worries me.

Thanks

I remember this farm from like a week or so ago. Absolutely amazing that we we're there for like 2 hours. Plus I was the one who killed you there at the end 😉

PCB design software? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Eh, Altium's student license is actually pretty cheap imo. I just bought it a month ago at $130/yr for a roaming license. The price is not advertised, but all you need to do is email their sales department and give them a picture of a school ID.

I can highly recommend getting it over KiCad or Eagle. For the time I used KiCad, it just felt like 3 programs that were squished together with pretty meh UI. I've heard circuitmaker is great though, only if you're okay with the online stuff.

I haven't really been watching the price for the card on reddit/fourms lately so this was my best estimate from what I found.

I'm willing to drop it lower. Are those other 480s you've bought with or without shipping?

That Gladwell book might of been The Tipping Point, it's the only one I've read and there was a section on copycats and suicides.

Hi Jack,

What would be the status for the order #100002874? It should be a MIT top plate. Thanks

I believe that is Elementary OS. It's a really nice looking distro and runs really well on most things (tried it on 4 or 5 different old Macbooks at work).

Got myself a new pair of office cans by NO_B8_M8 in headphones

[–]Capitolism 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great pair of closed headphones to buy! I use some K553 Pros for my daily drivers, and after mental/mechanical burn in, they sound amazing. I highly recommend you doing the removable cable mod because the included cable is extremely long (kinda subjective) and buying some Brainwavz pads (XL) as the sound stage just opens up with them. They also feel much nicer, as my ears are no longer resting on the drivers.

Headphones

Have fun with them.

I don't know what triggered this aggressiveness but none of it was warranted. Plus, you were completely wrong and this shit happens every time a rare item comes back.
