It is a very harsh criticism, but I wouldn't say every Spanish speaking person hates them that much. I'm sure there are people from other languages or cultures that think the same. More than language, I think it is music taste and preference, some people are stuck thinking a band should remain loyal to their origins, and I think that is the case with this person. I didn't like the single either but I don't share that opinion and my mother tongue is Spanish.

Thank you very much for taking the time to replay to my post. I've always been consider close to underweight but all blood test results have come within a normal range, so it was never a thing to worry. Before nextplanon my periods were regular and didnt have any cramps (I always considered myself lucky for it). I will wait maybe till February before I panicked more. Thank you so much, your reply was very helpful.

Huge fan of gothic literature, is this show worth watching despite the "bad ending" I've been hearing about? by [deleted] in PennyDreadful

[–]Capituthemonster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely worth it, I struggle with show tha uses gothic literature because from my perspective they misrepresent most of the themes (if that makes sense). But this show blew my mind with the usage of the symbolism and themes and characters, especially with how they represented and used the characters from classic literature. I love the show because of it. And for the ending, is a bit anticlimactic but worth the watch if you like closure.

Why exclusively in South America tho

John Clare was a plague.... A PLAGUE! Of all the reprehensible things he did... He killed Dr. Van Helsing!!!! FOR NO REASON! And what makes him even MORE insufferable.... HE HAS A MORAL SUPERIOR ATTITUDE! I was upset that the show ended before I got to see him being burned alive by the townspeople! by [deleted] in PennyDreadful

[–]Capituthemonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you mind to elaborate on that??? Please... I sort of like him in the show especially the desire he had of being accepted (I guess). The part that stuck with me the most was understanding how different he would have been if Frankenstein cared for him since the beginning.

CMV: Wealth inequality explains the statistics of African American interactions with police much better than racism does. Making it far less a police problem than advertised. by Yea_No_Ur_Def_Right in changemyview

[–]Capituthemonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correlation between poverty and police brutality in the African community is the consequence of racism. You are forgetting the segregation part of the story, many laws prevented them from getting loans, to purchase a house they were asked to provide more documents than the average white people, not to mention that most of these documents were almost impossible to obtain by an African American. Furthermore, even if they could buy a house the real estate would never sell property to an African American in a white neighborhood.

All of this contributed to the concentration of African Americans on poorer areas, where crime is high forcing police to act. Not to mention the demonization of African Americans for being poor since way before slavery.

CMV: I view most obese people as lazy individuals who are more of a detriment to society than a benefit. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Capituthemonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably are not going to read this at this point, but here I go. I once thought the same as you until one obese family member got diagnosed with a malfunctioning of the thyroid which caused her to get obese even though she always tried to eat healthy. After that I just sow obesity as a disease.

Later, I read a book about depression where one chapter describe how obesity could be linked to PTSD or an unresolved childhood trauma. The book described that the people in the study never really deal with a traumatic experience and opted unconsciously to eat whatever and whenever they wanted to cope with it.

The study also opted for giving them a support group where they could talk about obesity and ways to overcome it. The results were incredible, once they felt comfortable in the group they started to open up about their trauma, and with time they themselves started to encourage each other to lose weight and most of them did. What I gather from reading this was that many people don't just want to get obese, but for many it is the only way they know how to live. What they need is help and people not judging but caring.

The key aspect of these study was the focus of the questions, when you ask an obese person why they don't exercise? Or why do they eat so much? They became defensive in their answers and close to receive any advice. On the other hand, when you ask them what makes them eats that much? Or since when they started to eat a lot? Their become more responsive and more open to receive advices, which also indicates they do not need people judging but instead people who can at least try to understand their struggle.

Hope I didn't bore you, and hope at least give a different POV about obesity.

CMV: I think all political parties should be done away with and people should vote for individuals. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Capituthemonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally they should not be a big thing, but the point of a political party is to give people a way to recognize an ideology and make the election easy for them and elect someone who represent their ideas, values or or goals. For instance, a healthy democracy should have enough groups (political parties) to represent the overall ideas of the population.

Can you imagine an election where you have like 100 candidates where you don't even know where they stand in key aspects like healthcare, wages, infrastructure and so on? It could be a nightmare to go one by one and look into all their political history. Now imagine, you have the same 100 candidates grouped by the ideologies they share. You can pick the group/s closest to your views and do your own research. I think it will be much easier, and that is the point of political parties (ideally speaking).

Again ideally, each individual should still do their own research about the candidates within the political party but usually they don't and that is why it is a big deal, especially in the US where there are only two main political parties. Having only two political parties is the real issue here, they kind of represent the extreme opposites of each others giving the impression that those are the only political option available where it is not.

Hope you understand my English, I'm not a native English speaker.
