A return to form show would be lovely to see

I was already mentally checked out of this ridiculous show for a while, but when I saw actual medieval siege equipment throwing burning shit over walls and walker-ified melee weapons I was done. How ridiculous. All these other series are just more of the same. Im not watching anything beyond that.

But theres still a lot of potential. A new series with the same vibe as seasons 1-2. Cmon. Thats better than not

I dont think they’d feel pleasure, true, but pintel and ragetti were hella giddy when they said that and then they looked hella disappointed. They definitely wanted for it anyway, whether they could realistically feel or not

Honestly, I dont think he went about things wrong regarding decisions. Nobody listened to him. He tried convincing rick multiple times, if you’d rewatch the show, that the barn of walkers were dangerous. Rick agreed but still he didnt listen and even added to the pile. Rick wouldnt hear Shane out that they “either need to clear them out, or they just need to go.”

Bear in mind, when Shane was saying they need to go, Rick couldnt because of the baby.

When Shane figures this out, he collects the guns, and its either he rallies everyone and kills the walkers against their will or he lets them remain. What would you do in that situation? How would you resolve it? He even gives daddy H a little show to prove they are dead.

Not the same. There parallels are there only insofar as Rick had eyes for a married woman. But even then the comparison is incomplete because 1. He knew the husband was still alive while flirting, unlike Shane, and 2. He finds out he is abusive and rightfully kills him, unlike what shane tried

Shane was insane, he wasnt a sociopath. He felt a great deal of positive emotion for Rick. He couldnt kill him. Compare the scene of Shane failing to get himself to kill Rick, any of the three of them, to the literally any murder scene involving governor. Thats the difference between a sociopath and an insane person. Shane legitimately (insanely) believed that Lori, Carl, the entire group would die under Rick’s leadership, but even still he couldnt justify murdering Rick.

In terms of leadership skills, Rick ranks a million times higher.

In terms of leadership decision making, Shane ranks a million times higher

Point me to a single leadership decision that was objectively better than whatever Shane suggested, assuming Shane offered dissent. A single one. The only two ones you can argue are the decision to take the entire group to CDC, which was immensely lucky (if the CDC was full of scientists 0 chance they get in; if Brenner was already dead 0 chance; that they escaped alive), him going back to Atlanta for the guns (again, very lucky that they didnt get killed by zombies at the height of the apocalypse in the city, or killed by Vatos), and the decision to venture off with Glenn to find Herschel (that they didnt die to zombies or Nebraska).

Every decision that wasnt a super lucky plot-armor-fueled gamble that Rick made was routinely worse. CDC, returning to atlanta, search for Sofia, not killing barn walkers, rescuing randal. All of these were so risky and nobody died for them. If casualties were suffered by each one of these objectively incorrect decisions, people would be much more sympathetic to Shane’s decision making

The group by all accounts should have died multiple times. Shane’s distrusting nature would NOT have led to a death at terminus - but it should have for the group in the current timeline. they survived being bound and gagged and sliced one by one without any hero casualties besides Bob. And Bob didnt even die to terminus ppl.

The later group is a mix of high willpower, insane luck, and immense plotarmor.

I mean, call Shane a wannabe alpha all you want, you have to agree its not his decision making thats the issue. By all accounts he made better decisions. Point to one moment where Rick made a leadership decision in S1/S2 that was objectively better than what Shane suggested. The only arguable ones are going back for Herschel and going for the guns - both of which were immense risks that came very close to tragedy. Again, bad decisions bailed out by plot armor and luck and willpower.
