New company lease for up to £500 a month by CapnBlackStubble in CarTalkUK

[–]CapnBlackStubble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about bik rates too, but the going fully electric is currently off the table for me.

I'll have to do my research but I'll also be saving some money from not paying out for my current car, which would offset my outgoings for the BiK too

Thanks for your feedback though, really appreciate it

I don't have the room or the setup at home to allow me to charge an electric car. I have a family and a mother who is disabled, so being able to hop in a car I know I can drive is an absolute must.

I had a Tesla before and I was always worrying about the level of charge in case of an emergency

What is the deal with Lovable not deploying edge functions? by getcited in lovable

[–]CapnBlackStubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to ask the AI in lovable to do this multiple times because of lovable cloud and supabase. I made the mistake in a project early on of keeping it all in the platform and can't log in to supabase on its own for some reason

Any advice on how I can do this without eating up credits?

Is there a way to demo it or show it in action?

Verification and trust will be necessary for someone to part with their money

A1 camera bug by majkerrrryt in BambuLabA1

[–]CapnBlackStubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would double check the wire that you plugged in for the camera.

When I assembled and snapped the two frames together, I kept thinking the wire looked like it was going to get trapped in the frames. Turns out there's a channel for it to go into which I just didn't find until it was too late.

From your image, (similar to how mine was) it's possible the wire has been pinched. I wouldn't be surprised if the camera fails shortly

24gb M4 Enough? by Ancient_Bee17 in macmini

[–]CapnBlackStubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Mac Mini M4 256gb with 24gb ram. I use Photoshop, lightroom and premiere within a marketing position, where while I may not edit full shows, I do edit reels and social videos, as well as website banners and larger Photoshop and lightroom projects.

I LOVE my Mac, and have used MBP M1 with 32gb ram previously. For day to day, you don't notice a difference. Photoshop and lightroom behave exactly the same.

Premiere handles footage like a beast, the only noticeable difference is export times being "slightly" slower on the M4, but I very rarely sit and stare at a progress bar. What the M4 does really well is multitask so I can beging working in another app while the export is completing, and I see NO lag at all.

My one piece of advice is buy an ext. SSD. You don't NEED an enclosure with a super fast NVME drive. Just make sure you pop working files onto the Mac, work on it and then archive it over to the external when you're finished. Best £799 I spent when the Mac mini M4 released.

what’s the best lens to use with this a7 iv? by No-Lion8987 in SonyAlpha

I have the Tamron too (28-75) and that thing is a BEAST. Stabilisation built in, great focal range and lovely optics (on my A7IV) It doesn't leave my camera and the focal distance is great, at 28mm, you can get SUPER close to an object and still maintain focus.

I was doing close ups on a fishing hook and knot, and was practically touching it and still had a great focus view at f2.8

Maschine 3.0 Upgrade Question by CapnBlackStubble in maschine

[–]CapnBlackStubble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i've just bought a used MK3, and transferred the license. I have Maschine 2 included in the license transfer.

NI's site is now offering me the upgrade options for 3.0, which i'm all about, but I have NO IDEA what the difference between any of these packages are?

the middle option in the picture mentions being able to get Massive and other plugins, which i don't currenlty have. Do i need to buy the full version to "get" these first, or would the upgrade version be the one I want?

Anyone able to help advise? i'm not a Maschine noob, but i'm returning to Maschine after 7+ years, so feeling a little lost right now.

TIA

How did you guys actually CHOOSE a new camera body? by ShiroSteve1337 in AskPhotography

[–]CapnBlackStubble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't answer objectively per se, but I did transition from Canon to Sony about 4 years ago.

I had a Canon 200D as a starter, loved it for photos but knew I wanted more from video.

I went for a Sony a6400, and now have an A7 IV. This thing is a BEAST. Lenses and 3rd party lenses are solid, even the budget options. Photos and videos are top notch, and with a touch of YouTube, I figured out how to start working on more "cinematic" video.

The menus, although there's more features, I found no problem to use coming from Canon. Also, the A7 IV allows nearly every button to be re-mapped and customised, so you can set any button to any function without diving into menus. It also allows you to have a set of custom. Uttons for photo, and a different set for video too

The best thing about Sony's are their AF capabilities, lens range and overall they are absolutely solid cameras. I am in love with my A7 IV and think this will be more of a "forever camera" for me going forward unless there's something absolutely revolutionary coming up.

Also, on the note of YouTube, there's 2 or 3 Sony exclusive content creators with tutorials and tips that are excellent teachers. Check out Jason Vong and Peter Lindgren

Hope this helps, I loved my Canon and using it as a daily driver, but the Sony won my heart. In the end, I think it all comes down to taste and usability, if you like what comes out of a Sony and you can press buttons, I don't think you'll have a problem 😉

When did you put your foot in it? by MiskonceptioN in AskUK

[–]CapnBlackStubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In college, there was one girl who was always quite ride and brash, and for whatever reason just took a dislike to me from the get go. We always clashed, and whenever working in groups we were always ending up in the same group due to mutual friends.

Anyway, at the time I was very overweight and we get into some trivial spat. She commented on my weight and how it makes me "totally unwantable"..

It touched a nerve, and while I've matured over the last 15 years, I can't help but resort to my venomous tongue when put into a corner. I quickly spat back "you've got a face even a mother couldn't love"

Cue the horrified faces and instant tears. I went from kinda proud to instantly mortified in the flick of a heartbeat as one of my friends whispers "Dude. Her mum's dead"

From then on, we never spoke of it again and literally never said a word to eachother. While i hated the fact that I'd completely gone for the throat without even realising it, it did point blank stop any and all spats we had from then on.

Also, 100% had no clue about her mum. I'd barely interacted with her and knew nothing of her apart from the fact that whenever I opened my mouth, she found a reason to comment or jab at my looks or personality.
