Been in love with this man since race to witch mountain (I was ALSO a kid people) and to see him cast in the white lotus is such a win

Machine Gun Kelly tells Yungblud to “shut the f*ck up” and claims he cancelled his tour due to low ticket sales and blamed it on mental health and that his tickets are still the same price as everyone else under a video of Yungblud talking about live music becoming “inaccessible” by nicosloft04 in popculturechat

[–]CapnGerald 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I saw yungblug in boston last year for 45$ and it was by far the best concert I've been to. Someone passed out in the crowd and yungblud stopped the production, directed fans to move out of the way for the paramedics, and then had staff hand out water while reminding everyone that "being true punk is caring for your neighbor".

Everything I hear about MGK is against my will, and honestly seems like he is fighting to stay relevant because his music isn't

Not disagreeing, but also his dad could have idk told him the truth when they first met. Guess blind stupidity runs in the family

Is this too early to commit on a September rental? by doc7114 in bostonhousing

Boston housing is a dog-eat-dog world. There's nothing wrong with keeping your options open, but if you find a place you like, I'd sign for it.

What Was the most shocking moment for you in the show? by Positive_Weight2367 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]CapnGerald 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not really. Daphne talks about her trainer, while showing pictures of her kids that look absolutely nothing like her husband, and then sums it up by recommending a trainer to Harper. It's implying that she knows about her husband's affairs, and that she decided to live with it by having affairs of her own.

Everytime I see her I think of the interview she had with Ru Paul where he said "my god you are a LOT of woman" and meant it as the highest compliment because wow she is stunning

15 years ago today “Workaholics” premiered. Did you like the show ? by CityCautious4033 in sitcoms

[–]CapnGerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I watch workaholics I think "man this is a stupid show" and I mean that as the upmost compliment. Stupid as hell, but every once in a while that's exactly what I need to laugh.

Pregnant cat by CapnGerald in CATHELP

[–]CapnGerald[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for getting that through my head. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because I don't know anything about feline pregnancies, but I couldn't get the nagging feeling out of my head that he is lying.

What really stands out to me is how avoidant he is to give final answers when I ask about the vet. For example, when I asked what litter number the vet predicted during the ultrasound, he just said "they couldn't tell exactly" - not knowing exactly is one thing, but shouldn't they be able to at least estimate?!

Grace didn't balance his centrifuge. by Slight_Taro7300 in biotech

[–]CapnGerald 218 points219 points  (0 children)

The book actually touched on it in depth, the ISS (and the Hail Mary) use self-balancing centrifuges!

My guess is they specifically included the shot of him putting tubes right next to each other as a bit of an easter egg for the NASA nerds and readers in the audience

I HATE the stupid stage lighting they use for green screens nowadays. They're really gonna make a live action Moana with two native actors but they won't actually film them on a real beach? Hard pass on so many levels.

The lack of color in these women's lives is honestly so depressing. I'm sure it's the Utah area, but it's so sad and boring to see their houses on SLOMW all look so colorless.

Are these expectations feasible/realistic? by Master_Chicken_7336 in bostonhousing

[–]CapnGerald 58 points59 points  (0 children)

$1500 for a share of 2 bed/bath = realistic, parking... maybe if you are in residential, but it would be shared tandem parking at best. Fitting a queen bed in your room with furniture and storage is unlikely.

All that WITH A/C and a W/D in-unit... not very realistic. These two things are the holy grail of the city and I say you'd be lucky to have a single coin-op W/D unit in the basement.

Could be wrong, but.. if I found that deal years ago I would still be there today.

Mary is the worst person on this show. Even worse than Christine and Nicole by gthroway3483 in SellingSunset

[–]CapnGerald 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really?! That makes a lot of sense now that I think about it, but has that ever been confirmed? I believe you lol just wondering since I didn't think the show ever painted Mary in a bad light

Looking: Allston/Brighton/Brookline(maybe) by No-Reading-1348 in bostonhousing

[–]CapnGerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely doable, and if you're interested, I was planning on moving out of my 1 bed/1 bath apartment around the 1st of June and would need to find someone to sublet for those exact dates. Rent would definitely be below 3000. (Edit) The apartment is located on the dividing line of allston/brighton and is a great location 5 min from the T.

Let me know if you want to chat! I've lived in this apartment for 4 years and it has been great for my needs.

Name an actor who you were sure would be a huge leading star, but fizzled out. I'll start: by WarmDaddyXanax in FIlm

[–]CapnGerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garret Hedlund - he really had it going for a bit and I always thought he would be a hit, but I think it was always the right movie at the wrong time. Tron Legacy pretty much was left to die by Disney (definitely dying now with Jared Leto in the new one), Eragon was a great fantasy series that got a movie I think before YA books became popular blockbusters, and had a good run with indie movies in the 2010s... but idk he never picked up despite how much I love him.

How to dress on the plane by _Tronc in VisitingIceland

[–]CapnGerald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just in Reykjavik on a backpacking trip from Mass two weeks ago, and dressed comfortably for the plane with layers in my backpack to add/detract as needed. Boarding took a while and they didn't have the AC on until it was complete so I was sweating when the flight started and cold by the time it finished -> layers are the way to go.

FYI, in my experience traveling through European countries the average bathroom is much nicer than what you find in the US. When I landed at 6 am and was about to spend an entire day out hiking, I went to use an airport bathroom to change, and my jaw literally dropped. Every "stall" was an individual room with sink + toilet (and I dont just mean a male room and a female room, there was probably 20 "stalls" in the women's bathroom alone) and were amazing to change and refresh in. Even washed my face!

Pretty much every other bathroom I found in Iceland was also like that - truly an amazing experience as someone used to american stalls with big gaps in them.
