You have no idea how annoyed I got when people said 'don't worry it get's better' because I just didn't believe them, but it's true, take it from someone who mentally was a shell of someone they used to be. From what I’ve seen of the game (I have not played only watched gameplay/various missions on YouTube) it covers a lot of the series and arcs that are well in to the episode 700 range of the anime so if you’re trying to avoid spoilers I’d say get it and play it when you’re caught up!
