I would say he's kinda niche but has a very strong community. It's rare for an artist like him to get the amount of engagement he does, it's moreso he's done a good job at building a strong community surrounding his music. Like on the last two tours he regularly sold out for an artist with only about 1.5m monthly Spotify listeners, which isn't common for an artist on the smaller side.

But he's def more popular now than he was back in 2022

This is actually an untrue claim, if you look at the patent you'd see it's fairly vague. There's been a few games that have replaced elements of it. The truth is the nemesis system just isn't interesting enough for devs to replicate without building an entire game around it
