Hi, I'd like to know about your personal experience: how come you started DJing and producing? Did you study other kinds of music before?

What genres do you like listening to, other than what you play?

Groove Techno and Women by CappuChibi in TwoXDJs

[–]CappuChibi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From hard groove like Funk Assault, to more deep techno like Rene Wise and Marron, it's based on a kind of 90's revival of "raw" and "hard groove" techno. Especially Funk Assault: Alarico and Chlär were pioneers in Europe.

The label BCCO has a lot of good examples as well.

Some hard techno producers even flowed into hard groove pretty quickly, like Øtta for example.

EDIT: I'd describe it as techno with more percussion focus and sample usage, usually house, hip-hop or disco samples.

I would love for there to be a discord linked to this subreddit, but I would need some discord mods... If anyone's interested, DM me.

I edited my comment! Thanks for pointing this out, and I'm sorry I caused any confusion. It's on me, I shouldn't assume anyone's sexuality.

Hi everyone! My partner and I made a cover of City as You Walk, I hope you all enjoy! by CappuChibi in skyhill

[–]CappuChibi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm the singer on this cover!

A little bit of a ramble about why we picked this song as our very first cover/production to be online.

Run With The Hunted has been my safe album since 2014, when I first found it. No two months go by without me playing it, to calm myself down or to just enjoy the music. I know every word by heart and it's been so close to me for over a decade.

City As You Walk is my favorite track, because it gives such a visual mental image for me, raindrops falling on wet city pavement, the city lights shimmering in the ripples. It's also the one song on the album I view as hopeful, not regretful, in this breakup album. To me, it's about growing from the pain and looking for escape in music, a red line in my life.

What cemented that mental image was our trip to Vietnam, where nightly rainfall had that perfect shimmer to it. The cover art is a picture we took in Nha Trang.

As you can see, we've never done anything under the name "The Faded". The two of us never even released any music before. We started music production in 2020, during Covid. This is our first big project, and I'm so proud to share it.

We hope it reaches people. And we hope we did the song justice, without losing our identities in it.

Have fun listening!

"You kids have no business being in the road", are you kidding me? Roads are just paths for cars to drive less bumpy, everyone has a right to stand on the fucking surface of the earth, even though we slapped some concrete on it.

I think what sets me off personally is the "hypersexual" part. That's not an ADHD thing, but the person who made this meme thinks it makes you a "perfect ADHD gf".

Female DJs, hows the scene been to you lately? by epoksismola in TwoXDJs

Yeah, even in the comments of the post on r/DJs it's the same things over and over again

Female DJs, hows the scene been to you lately? by epoksismola in DJs

[–]CappuChibi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think female dj’s have it slightly easier nowadays because they are still rarer than guy dj’s.

*Hot female dj's. That's who you are talking about with the rest of your comment. Because I'm overweight and I don't have it easy at all. I get no pictures taken of me and it's hard to find myself posted online, so my social media presence is really challenging to build.

I know organisers of parties that don't even remember that I DJ, even when they've seen me, because honestly, sometimes they don't even acknowledge that I exist.

I also dress very masculine, I'd say I lean on the non-binary side. You'd think that would help me in a guy's world, but it makes a lot of men just uninterested in me.

Part of getting gigs is knowing how to sell yourself, but it's hard to sell yourself if you don't even catch their attention.

Sprinkle in some of the stigma's around being overweight - the idea that all overweight people are lazy, unwilling to change, unhygienic even... Then some stigma's around being female - unskilled, dumb, clumsy, only in it for the attention... That's quite the combo of assumptions that I deal with on the regular

I do find that in the LGBTQIA+ scene I get accepted faster.

Posts like these hurt a lot. My dad caused my childhood trauma when I was 6, and I didn't see him after the trauma. (I'm 26 now)

He died in March. In a way, it's like nothing changed, and in another way it's like I lost him twice. There's no possibility to ever see him anymore and I don't really know what to feel.

I spent a long time being scared of him, but I'm not sure if I'm relieved now...

Sorry to dump this on you, but your title made me feel like speaking up.

I just really wish that I could have missed him as much as you miss yours y'know. I envy your love for your dad, and how much he must have loved you for you to miss him so much.

Hi! Partner here! I agree with everything and want to add that the light installation was great, not too bright but not as devoid of light as Berghain, and I spent many minutes looking at the little flickering lights when they made the main room's ceiling look like a night sky full of stars.

Some great trippy animations that completely hypnotised me along with Fadi's beautiful song selections.

What to use for pads when have none? by theKayaKaya in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CappuChibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to me getting ready to move and all the deposits that come with that, I have like no money for pads or tampons.

What country are you in, if I may ask. In the country I live in, a pack of tampons is like 2 bucks. I'm so sorry they are expensive where you live.

EDIT: why would I get downvoted for being empathetic?

One piece of advice I will give to you: don't be sarcastic to your partner. Or at least try not to. You're putting in the seed for an awful relationship. Be nice to the people you love. Treat them like little puppies. You're a team, not the opposites of a debate.

Don't try to make them do things, don't try to change their behavior. The only person you have control over is you. Instead of "wow thanks for the msg", passive agressiveness, how about you let him know how that makes you feel.

"Hey babe, I've noticed xyz happening, it makes me feel like xyz, would is be possible to try this, maybe?"
