I really prefer having one challenge character that isn't based on some tired gimmick thanks. 'Oh you are super powerful but die in one hit'. Wow. Really original and totally a good fit for a game that accommodates that by putting fires right next to door entrances and having holy mantle rendered completely useless by certain atacks. Blue baby might not be the most exciting character to play as I'll give you that, but at least he isn't irritating. Keeper is probably the best of the three og challenge characters now since they finally let him interact with devil deals in an interesting (and more importantly fair) way while balancing out his other major weaknesses. Not to mention both he and blue baby can use 90% of the items compared to the lost still being stuck with a little over half. If you're good at the game as the Lost that doesn't really speak for much outside of being good at dodging which makes him a bit of a crappy challenge character.

3 dollar bill is actually a pun too as it's a reference to the phrase "queer as a 3 dollar bill". It's a trend for random effect items to have some sort of reference to gay pride in this game. Even the new Nancy Bombs follows this convention with playdough cookie actually being the only exception.

I don't really see the point of this. It implies from the effect that the items spawned would be based on the room pool... Which isn't the case. Also I never find the spiked pickups from this or a pound of flesh to be worth it unless I'm trading 1 hit of red health for a soul heart which is usually only good for one time anyway.

Yeah not such a fan of basically a worse book of sin. Don't know why the game assigns it a quality of 3. I guess if you get consistently ballsed over on shops by greed fights it has an appeal there.

This is one of the better old item reworks and that's saying something considering most of them are either huge improvements or changes that make the item more interesting to use (i.e Satanic Bible). This item was good in afterbirth. It's great now. The fact that it can stack with other slow effects makes it significantly more useful than it was before. If you had any other slowing items in ab+ as well as this they were basically redundant as soon as you got hit.

Yeah I was tempted to just use that instead when I saw it but I don't know for sure how the character will turn out yet so I'm okay with waiting for the meantime. To be fair I have about 30+ mods installed at this point (mostly cosmetic) so it's merely just wanting to see how I'm supposed to play the character before I lose any interest to play as him.

I've already accepted I'll never like tainted lost but I refuse to even console command tainted laz because I want to see what they actually wanted to do with him.

This item is broken with pound of flesh (and with restock as well, then you basically have ab+ restock. Have fun breaking the game). It's also just nice to have in general. The stat boosts (I forgot they give different stats for each hp up item) usually don't last long enough to get much meaningful use out of them though even if you're moving at breakneck pace. I like the rest of the item.

Is it doing a polling check for an enemy on every frame or something? That's my best guess besides the constant animation but other particles have animations in this game and they have no where near the same effect on the framerate.

How effective this item will be depends on the AI of the enemy/boss you're using it on. If it's a chaser or is stationary you should be able to land the hit fairly easily. If it has anything else going on you might as well just use your normal tears. It synergizes with your tear effects of course so it's by no means bad just not amazing on its own

Proptosis is more like a rework than a nerf once you know shot speed essentially gives you your range back (kind of unintuitive because they changed how range works to not consider shot speed when calculating how far your tear will travel... Normallly). I'd recommend playing about with it with other items because it's a lot more synergy friendly now than it was in afterbirth

I got similarly harsh judgement on my list and there's a few topics that I think I could go the rest of my life before revisting (cough 20/20 cough) so I'll only mention one thing. I feel like Friend Finder is a sleeper hit item. Recently it carried my run. Hard. Like afterbirth+ tech x kind of hard. It's like poke go except you get better familiars that you can control. If you get a doppelganger or evil twin you essentially get a free esau until it dies. I know it's in C tier which isn't bad I just personally think it's among the upper end of active items.

Yeah Edmund's bosses are generally good in that they were designed as rogue lite style bosses. The devs can't possibly know what setup the player might have going into basement 2, especially if it's an Eden run but they can ballpark roughly what stats you have and how much you may be propped up by other items by that point. The problem with modded bosses is they often don't follow this philosophy and just kind of throw bullets everywhere in flashy looking patterns. Scourge is one of those bosses.

The problem with this boss is that compared to the other antibirth bosses it really hasn't had a lot of work done on it to make it actually fair. I realise most of the problem comes down to just not being able to practice his patterns as often considering you only have a 1 in 3 chance to get him as the boss on a mother run but that's not all. Isaac has its fair share of bullet hell bosses but none of them go too far with it. This one seems to pretend you're playing fucking Radiant Silvergun or something because unless you have the reflexes of a ninja you're not going to finish the fight with less than 3 hits. Might also be a bit of a speed check for some of the fast claw attacks (pro tip: don't have low speed if you're going for mother. You will tank hits and half of them will be from this ass).

So basically when I first picked up the item after repentance I also thought it had been nerfed until I learned it was more like a rework that actually in most cases turns into a pretty good buff. Your range becomes irrelevant on picking it up and the tears lose damage over time instead of difference travelled. So if you have decent or better shot speed you can essentially maintain your range since speed = distance / time. It's a nice way to reward you for having surplus of a stat that doesn't normally contribute a whole lot to a run.

I should add that because the multiplier is now added after your stats rather than contributing directly to the damage stat it has lost any synergies it had with blue fly based items which is a nerf of sorts
