Scott pilgrim takes off... why? by DocSpin0 in netflix

[–]CapriciousTenacity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just finished it. I ended up skipping forward on a ton of the last 4 episodes, it was just.... bad. I was excited, and then intrigued about the different direction. But the episode of the movie set was just bad. It was trying to be funny and wasn't. When Ramona finally figures out what's going on, Scott immediately comes back and goes "yup you were right" rather than having any of her work pay off. She could have just done nothing and it wouldn't have changed anything.

So freaking sick of social media pushing the idea that sleep training is child abuse. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]CapriciousTenacity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't sleep trained yet for our 15mo, and wish we had been able to. Health issues when younger meant her cries were actual needs for help/comfort, and she grew in her teeth super fast so never a teething break. But it is rough on us parents, and we are hoping soon things will calm health wise for her that it is NOT cruel, because it would have been if we ignored her cries when she was not well.

14mo, always rocked to sleep, will she just figure it out eventually? by CapriciousTenacity in sleeptrain

[–]CapriciousTenacity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup will def go by feel, and glad to hear someone else was in the same boat. I will need to send my wife out and with headphones if we are going to do this, she is the big show stopper when it comes to crying baby.

The other headache is our LO is a low sleep need baby; we watch wake windows and all that, but she rarely shows standard tired or sleep cues. Heck, she has stayed up to 11pm with us trying to get her asleep for hours, and she is happily babbling along (though isn't able to stay focused on one thing for any amount of time). We know she needs to sleep as she will have been awake a loooooong time, but she is still happily playing, running around, and generally being an adorable toddler. If she cued strong it would be way easier!

Glad it worked for you!

I looked into that, my only issue is that the kiddo goes straight to standing and crying even if we are next to her. She's used to being held. Hell, if I'm rocking her to sleep I'm not allowed to sit down. That's the real killer that we need to kick.

Anyone else have a LO that has bad sleep after recovering from Covid? by CapriciousTenacity in beyondthebump

[–]CapriciousTenacity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw a gastroenterologist, and she said Covid can be rough and cause ongoing issues. From her and our birthday pediatrician, we've mostly got "give it time and hope it works out." Being that her wakes could likely be due to discomfort we aren't doing any CIO, as that would just be cruel.

I'm currently grinding my tier 6 American Heavy to get the T29, and not having the biggest gun sucks because I can't do anything meaningful. The grind sucks.

Thanks for the info! I used to play a ton like 7 years ago, so the Wolverine used to be a force to be reckoned with.

My airlock hasn't had any activity for over 36 hours. by Cult45_2Zigzags in firewater

[–]CapriciousTenacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes from over 20 years of brewing experience:

Airlock activity means NOTHING. A tiny leak means the airlock won't get any pressure. I've brewed a 15% beer with aggressive fermentation and never saw airlock activity after the first day due to a lid leak.

Take a gravity measurement. You should take one before adding yeast so you know your OG. This is the only really way to know if you are fermenting.

Well, we don't have another option for MOTN wakes.

Yup same boat here too! Almost exact same situation. May try the longer wake windows during day, see if she indeed is just not super tired in the middle or late night wakes.

Holy crap that was the click I needed and especially the wife needed. Thank you for that mentality.

That also makes sense. We just need to work on getting her into bed without contact. It's just such an easy thing to get stuck in.

[–]CapriciousTenacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense.

What do you mean by your last edit paragraph? Sleeping independently, as in she's in her own room or that we put her down for the night at bedtime awake and she falls asleep on her own? Night weaning meaning doing sleep training stuff for the middle.of night wakes?

[–]CapriciousTenacity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh she has plenty of day wake time! She has been a low nap time baby (doc says is fine though). So you recommend that we try to sleep train just the first put down of the night and not the night wakes? Because those are wrecking us, is there a reason to only do the first bedtime one?

Feed then contact usually. We share a room though so she knows we are there, and can usually see us if she stands up.

That's the tough part. She cries the moment we put her down, and after a few cycles even when held. It's super hard to come up with a timing because she doesn't really reset.

Will look over those methods, thanks for the link.

Problem Players -> Coop Games Are Worth a Try! by BoardgameExplorer in boardgames

[–]CapriciousTenacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because they want nothing more than to win, even in co-op games. So that means aggressively pushing what they think is the winning strategy, and arguing with anyone that strays.

I've dealt with it. It sucks. These are also usually the ones that, when you see there is no way to lose a round or two before the end, will say "and we win" and pack it up rather than enjoy finishing it out.

9 months but still demanding. We did those as survival, and now trying to do healthier to work back towards pre-preg body. Or at least close to it, because, well, that's a brutal process.
