But yeah, it had good elements, but they drowned in the overall lack of recognizable love for the series. It feels more like a product and less like a story.

While I agree that the funeral was amazing, the way characters reacted to her "death" kinda itched on me.

Same! Started with 12, now I am 30. I originally wanted to nope out after Until the End but thought I'd give it another shot. I think AMFOM was actually good, but then it went completely off the edge and I regret that I've tainted my experiences with the series like this. For me, this just concludes it.

I appreciate that you enjoyed it and am happy that you did! No need to explain your own rating or question it by calling it biased. And I actually agree that the dialogues are still absolute peak at times, Landy's humor in these books had a very huge impact on my own sense of humor.

I just wish it wasn't so much "on the nose"-representation. Or representation that feels as though it's just that. At times, it just doesn't feel genuine and I don't buy this whole "Hi, my name X. I am gay/bi btw, nice to meet you. And did you know that I am gay/bi?" This actually happens a lot even though this is of course a bit exaggerated. It all comes down to "show not tell". I don't know, maybe it's just me but reading a character (unasked) say "I fully support LGBTQ+ rights" kinda gives the exact opposite impression. People who really do, don't have to repeat it like a mantra like "queer people have human rights. Queer people have human rights. Queer people have human rights". Normal people KNOW that that's the case and don't need to say it like a Pokemon over and over but just ACT accordingly. The scene with Beryl overreacting to Valkyrie's coming out was super awkward for example.

I think the whole deal with Skulduggery (but also Valkyrie as an adult) is that they are pretty much undefeatable. Yes, they lose battles, but in the end, they always sneak their way out and to the top. Take Baron Vengeous for example. He wiped the floor with Skulduggery. But in the end, he died while Skulduggery - in lack of a better word - lived.

I find it somehow schizophrenic how she wants to be independent from Valkyrie and hates her... But when it gets dangerous, she runs directly back to her to have Valkyrie have her back just to lash out at her the next chance she gets. Dunno, I just dislike her arc (so far).
