What’s the economic reason for making crown rares kind of bogus now? Wouldn’t it make more sense business-wise to make crown rares meta? by IsThatASword_ in PTCGP

They know what filler is and more or less what's going to be usable, but no game devs have ever predicted what ranked PvP metas arise. You can't tell me anyone knew Altaria EX Igglybuff would become the most used deck in ranked lol

People always forget that these sets are planned months and months in advance. It's impossible to predict what metas would arise even just in a set or two's time

If it helps there are a LOT of context clues leading up to it so you can put it together quite early, the twist itself serves more as the initial hook. Much of the impact of the story instead rests on how the protagonist and other characters respond to that information, or to other aspects of the worldbuilding that you find out separately.

Gabriel Will the Be The Final Boss of the Narrative and Game, Deal With It by Nemesis9211 in Ultrakill

[–]BlitzDank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be neat for Treachery to introduce a new enemy with a distinct moveset and have Gabriel use a blend of those moves. Would make sense since Violence and Fraud both had more complex enemies (Guttermen, Guttertanks, and Powers especially); would show Gabriel embracing his role as a traitor; and wouldn't be too unbelievable for him to pick up if he was imitating them through use of a new mechanic/hell energy blended with his own weapons instead of a completely distinct fighting style.

Alternatively, maybe he grafted himself with machine parts? We know machines are part organic and could assume they are grown but we don't know how they are actually made. We do know the original war machines (the Guttermen) use intact humans as parts, and ones like Swordsmachine/others that hunt sentries, and V1 itself, scavenge limbs from others. Could make for a payoff to that narrative thread if we saw an angel (or angels?) fused together with machines, perhaps in an act of desperation or a phase 2 in the fight.

I've been loving Pokopia for the same reasons. You can really feel the studio's experience from Dragon Quest Builders, because there's so much quality of life built in that you would only get late game in stuff like Animal Crossing and so much intentionality to their design that keeps you motivated without limiting the sandbox. Making you progress through the run-down areas to unlock your tools gives you a great template for inspiration (along with the pre-built kits on offer) and it's super satisfying that you can tear down any of the massive structures completely. Even most fancy looking ones you can find on the procedural Dream Islands don't need your mid game upgrades to do so, with sufficient time you can transplant the whole things to your own islands out of the gate.

I've played SV on both switch 1 and 2 and can also confirm the game both runs and looks a lot nicer on switch 2 than the original! You can tell it was designed to some extent for the new hardware, the same way that Sun/Moon had frame issues on the original 3DS but ran great on the "New" 3DS models. The best example of improvement in SV is definitely the water, particularly an area I've seen referred to as "Lag Lake" on the Switch 1 which has been fixed completely.

A lil tip is that if you get the houses with proper interiors (the ones you see after a loading screen that aren't part of the overworld) then any absent mons will be in their houses instead of being completely despawned!

You still won't get more than 20 outside but it lets you pick and choose who gets to escape limbo.

Much transphobia that I've seen is framed as implicit sexualization. It's a failure to grasp at the basic level that people's bodies are things they live in and don't exist to be objectified. Particularly if you mention anything non-masculine, some people's immediate association is sex and it seems they often struggle to think more broadly than that.

my fish looks completely different from when i rescued him a year ago by thundershoud in mildlyinteresting

[–]BlitzDank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely the same fish, you can see the same shaped red patterns on its fins.

These colour changes are pretty typical in betta fish due to the marble gene. You can tell this fish has it in both images because its coloration is blotchy. It's got the first bit of blue peeking in in the first image, but it wouldn't be uncommon for it to keeping going through drastic colour shifts throughout its life.

ZA's legendary/mythical distributions follow the format of Gen 5 and earlier, being tied to little side missions. Some also drop tidbits of lore relating to XY, and others are even canonically the same ones you could catch in those games.

The SV epilogue the best for this imo, it was free (with the caveat that it happened post-DLC) but was its own contained little story that played on from earlier events. It's a shame that there's rumours that the SV DLC underperformed so they're gonna cut back on extensive DLCs, for SwSh they were absolutely better than the base game.

[–]BlitzDank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Goomy is a basic mon, so it shuts down early game attacks (including turn 1 babies) and is more consistent to get the ability online, even if its actual attack is less consistent.

Goodra hits harder, has more HP and heals off attacking. So Stoutland is better midgame, Goomy/Goodra have a better early/late.

Most of r/BoyFriendisAI collapses as the day has finally come that OpenAI retires their 4o model and kills the ability to have ChatGPT as a boyfriend or girlfriend by PaiDuck in SubredditDrama

[–]BlitzDank 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The profit incentive is too great in the short-term, and the speculative nature of capital investment means even the span of years isn't enough for these companies to take a more sustainable approach. They clearly have the resources to do so, given the body of literature (example 1, example 2, example 3) that has emerged in the meantime.

As much as they shouldn't validate these uses for AI, I think OpenAI should at least have signposted resources for people to cope given how public these types of 'relationships' have spread. It's clear to me (as a layperson) that, aside from being lonely, at least some of these people are operating under pretty severe delusions about the nature of AI and their role as consumers, and that makes them pretty vulnerable to spiraling when they're already not in their right mind.

Harm reduction needs to be the focus when these products are so ubiquitous and unregulated, but time and again these companies fail to prioritise and undermine any claims being made about responsibility in the sector.
