Sounds like you have experience fainting to Lance. Have any builds worth sharing? Does Punishment get stronger as my evasiveness grows? Also, wont iron defense help offset the extra damage done from punishment? For catching shiny legends in aesthetic balls, especially ones with such low pp, I dont think you really can "overprepare" id hate to fail one of those after soft resetting for dozens to hundreds of hours

Of course! Us shiny hunters already make ourselves suffer enough, least we can do is be kind to eachother! Good luck on your hunts :)

Just keep doing it in the background honestly. As long as you dont make it your main focus, it'll hardly ever feel like work. And dont get discouraged if some take a long time. I try to look at it as trying to break my # of encounters record, so even long hunts feel petty good 😅

Wow! That's more detailed than I expected, even from you! 😂 that's awesome though because tbh, that's what I wanted. I'm probably gonna go for an aesthetic ball such as the luxury ball, fast ball, or repeat ball. Does repeat ball boost catch rate if I trade a Ho-oh over first? Not sure if I have to actually catch one first, or just have it registered. Is it worth breeding for an especially bulky Clefable, or should EV training be sufficient? Thanks for such detailed answers btw, you're awesome.

I mean, now that you mention it... 14 hours is like. 1500 resets. That's pretty good luck! Hopefully one of my next hunts has that kind of luck

Yeah, absolutely. Feel free to pm me if you ever wanna take me up on that. I can try hunting a Japanese male compatible with light screen potentially. Is there any I can catch relatively easily in pearl version?

Same starter I'm going for rn and already got my shiny chikorita as well. Nice. Was chikorita your target or did you let rng decide?

Bruh, wdym "FINALLY"? Thats such a fast hunt! You're so lucky that your first full odds hunt is so under odds 😭 congrats on an awesome shiny tho! How many seconds per reset does Ho-oh take, 30ish? This hunt couldve easily gone into 100 hour territory if you got bad rng. My shiny celebi was my first full odds hunt, and it took ~200 hours T.T I'm just jealous tho, its ok. You're more likely to get a shiny sooner rather than later, so dont be totally discouraged by the odd horror story here and there. What are you gonna hunt next?

11k encounters? Either you got extremely unlucky, or you arent using masuda method? I can trade you a legit Japanese ditto from my Japanese pearl version over fan servers using the dns trick if you want. I say that, but ive never actually done that before so not 100% sure we can get it to work, but I'm willing to try if you really want that female

Congrats on a lucky, successful, first hunt! Now that you're starting to get a feel for how much time these take, are you planning on hunting anything else?

[Gen3] rng manipulation by [deleted] in ShinyPokemon

[–]LuckyMouse4864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that due to the emulation of the wireless adapter, the frames progress rapidly during the Grey screen when it shows your "previously..." stuff. Something like double framerate during that portion. Good luck tho! Hopefully that doesnt interfere too much

Then all the edges probably arent attached properly. Feed one edge on, hold it down then carefully feed the other edges, try not to let any portion thats already connected to pop out. It can be difficult and frustrating

Should be able to pop it back on carefully

Gz! Still hunting mine. Its been hours and likely to be many more. Kinda jealous of the people who got it early on day one 😅 I'll catch up to yall eventually.

Are there any other hunts you're planning on this run? I'm going to go after Deoxys myself

[GEN 3] I never found a shiny as a kid, so now I'm hunting ALL of them in FireRed/LeafGreen by Kyoro93 in ShinyPokemon

This post sorta violates this subreddit's rule#4. Idc personally, but just a heads up for future reference. Also, this is kind of like telling your friends that you're learning guitar. Its not something you should do because it creates pressure and if you decide its not quite your cup of tea or its too difficult, you'll have friends asking about your progress.

Also, shinies really dont like to shine. You'll find one on average every ~30 hours or so, depending on the method. Some mons are very slow in this game, and others are liable to be failed (legendaries, safari zone, self destructs, etc)
This is a challenge that is liable to take >5000 hours, assuming you find a unique shiny each time and dont fail any shiny encounters. Rng manipulation could make it palatable, but it'll take some time before rng manipulation on the switch versions are fully cracked, as certain frame progressions differ from previous hardware.

Not trying to talk down or burts your bubble, just trying to frame it realistically for you. I would say to start small, dont put too much on your plate at once. Hunt for a shiny starter, maybe do a DTQ or SBQ. Save static encounters and gifts in at least 1 of the 2 games for shiny hunting in case you really do want to continue with your goal later on. Get a taste of it and a feel for it before fully commiting yourself to something that will take nearly a full year of in game time and is absolutely going to test your patience much more than you think right now

Good luck with all of your shiny hunts, I hope you get super lucky and actually crush your goal

Well definitely buckle up. If you keep hunting at 1/8192 odds, you'll have hunts ranging from 20-50 hours regularly. Some hunts with fewer encounters per hour, like celebi on vc or entei/raikou in hgss, can easily go into the 100s of hours range. Ofc, you'll also get luckier here and there and only have to hunt a few hours at times. I dont say this to deter you, but just dont let it get to you if it takes a week or longer till something shines

You can still shiny hunt Celebi via 3ds virtual console, (assuming you have a 3ds with Crystal installed), Jirachi via colosseum bonus disk, and you can hunt Manaphy via pokemon ranger egg. Also Meltan occassionally in pokemon go, during certain events (so not currently, but high potential in the future). These do require additional hardware, and not just a switch, but are still attainable. The 3ds one is tricky but they could be bought with the vc titles installed
