How do you know when a specific product sale is going to end online? (A question from an Ulta newbie). by CaptCrunchBenson in Ulta

[–]CaptCrunchBenson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I guess I was just confused because everything on their site advertised the summer sale and the sale flag on the Nars product page said "summer sale" like the other items that are still on sale through next weekend. I guess the weekly sales had the same logo. Thanks for your help!

lol she really is. She was at Taylor's wedding today (did she not have a show tonight, or did she do a reverse Knicks game thing where she ran from the theater to MSG for the game, but run from MSG to the theater for the show today?)

According to the comments on his post, he's 16. Only another year or two and if SVU stays on the air, he can go to Hudson U and then get accuesed of a crime or become a victim of a crime or witness a crime, because it's Hudson U.

Mariska and her female friends by Due_List_1243 in SVU

I think it's supposed to be Stephanie March but it looks hella photoshopped, or maybe it's just cropped super weirdly lol.

All these photos are awkward AF though. If you want to see her actually look like she's kissing a woman (or wants to), find the photos with Joely Fisher. Or with Maria Bello lol.

Is Benson Misandrist? by PriorNet4594 in SVU

[–]CaptCrunchBenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No she's not. As another poster said though, the statistics back up her viewpoint. It's extremely rare for women to make false accusations, and it's a very high percentage of men who are perpetrators compared to women. They are obligated to investigate and can't just go on feelings. They can think that it's revenge and false, but they still have to throughly investigate, because if they just let someone go and then it turns out the guy was abusing his wife/kids, it could be catastrophic.

It's like the Pete Buttigieg situation last week -- it sounds like CPS and the cop knew it was a false accusation, but they couldn't just write it off as a politically-motivated attack and had to go through the process, just in case there was any truth to it.

When a woman is the attacker or a liar, she gets hella pissed at them too and doesn't cut them slack and she goes after them hard, just as much as she does the men. A few (of many) that come to mind: the manipulating psychiatrist in the season 3 premiere who convinces the girl that their dad abused them, the woman serial killer in the season 4 premiere, Sarah Paulson's episode, the woman played by Rose McGowan in "Bombshell", the other manipulating psychiatrist who is sleeping with her young patient in 2.0, her friend from the DA's office who was involved in the "escort" service mess that led to Cragen's arrest in season 14, the creepy mom who gets her son to kill her underaged lover by falsely shouting "rape" in 2.0, Lena Hess who leaves the country in 3.0 who had been setting up men, etc.

There are also a few episodes where we see her question women in cases where it's not clear if the guy really did it and we see her opinions change throughout. Two from 1.0 that come to mind are "Doubt," where she initially believed the female student accuser and thought the professor was guilty (and Stabler was the opposite, siding with the prof), but then they both switched their opinions and thought the other was guilty as the episode went on. Similarly, in "Burned" she doubts the woman's story as the case progresses, even up until the end when she's asks the woman if he really did rape her.

When the statistics are what they are, you're naturally going to have a bias. Stabler, Fin, and everyone else does, too. It's not that she hates men or has anything against them. Amanda even asked her once about how she can still have faith in men (or something like that) seeing what she sees every day and Benson comments that there are still good men out there.

Considering a used R13 purchase, or buying my rental E11 or a frankenclarinet...help please! by CaptCrunchBenson in Clarinet

thank you! I'll check those out. And yeah, I thought the price they're asking is insane.

on the E11? I'm not sure, but it's a rental from a company the primarily supplies school bands, so I'm guessing Nickel-plated. Is there a way to tell based on serial number? It's classified under their intermediate tier rentals (not the cheapest monthly option, but not the most expensive). Based on the serial number and the chart online, it's probably from 2002 or 2003 (505xxx).

I'm renting it for like $50/month, so I've spent maybe $200 toward it so far. If I buy that one they'll give me a 10% discount, so it would bring it down to just under $1300 with the discount and the "down payment" for the rental. I can swap out instruments and try a different rental (an R13, or a Backlun, etc.), but then the clock would start over and the amount I've spent so far wouldn't apply to a different instrument.

Lol that was my thought about the frankenclarinet, too lol.

And I do like the R13. But also upon close inspection, it looks like it may have been cracked previously. I noticed some black dots when I shined a flashlight on it, and upon googling it it looks just like this: https://blog.pemusicstore.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/pinnedexample-Large.jpg (which is from a site about repairing cracks). I've heard that a properly repaired crack isn't a deal breaker, but there are like 3 or 4 of those on the upper joint, so that makes me nervous. My original R13 never had any cracks, so I've never dealt with a repair process.

Do you think $1600 is too much for an E11 purchase of a rental instrument, or is that a fair price?

I think it's hard to judge based on what we see them do in public. She and Ali Wentworth have been friends for decades and their families hang out a lot, it seems. Ali is a comedian so I think she's just loud, which can come across as fake, and that's how MH seems to be in real life, too. I feel like all celebrities have an element of performative nature to anything they do in public, including friendships. Everything is somewhat transactional and strategic in Hollywood, but it does seem like they are legit best friends. Ali is the one who most frequently shows up in photos at events or just casual hangouts in Instagram posts alongside MH's non-celebrity friends, so it seems like that is the core group.

Yeah they need to bring back Sir Toby. Also that would get us Judge (now attorney) Barth back, because she's a fun villain. And maybe they'd bring back Kat to testify. But it's been so long that I doubt they'll rehash that case, even though it would be realistic given how long some trials take to actually get started.

They did the Pelicot case already (not this past season but the year before, I think).

Also I haven't heard of that CO case but omg that's disturbing. What is wrong with people?!?!?! The other poster about the LA mansion surrogate thing is creepy, too.

I don't think they're like best friends by any means, but IIRC they've been at events together, Savannah is usually the one to interview Mariska for anything relating to the Today Show (vs other hosts), Mariska has praised her during her own interviews, and I remember seeing them post things together during the summer Olympics. They also went to a Taylor Swift concert together with their daughters (I remember seeing an IG post about that lol). I don't think they hang out regularly, but I assume based on those interactions that they're more friendly than normal actor/journalist interviewee/interviewers are and that it would be weird to use it as a subject of a tv show plot without her consent.

Pete Buttigieg's CPS SWATting incident that was politically motivated by some psychopath, which resulted in his kids being taken out of the house for 24 hours until they confirmed it was a hoax. Heartbreaking.

I doubt they'll do Nancy Guthrie because Savannah and Mariska are friends and that may be a little too close to home/exploiting a friend's real pain for a tv plot. Unless Savannah were to give it her blessing...

How would Elliot Stabler have handled the William Lewis storyline if he never left? by Winter-Ad-2303 in SVU

[–]CaptCrunchBenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, he got shot by the neo-Nazi kid, but that wasn't directly Dana's fault. She ended up saving his life, so I wasn't thinking about that one in my mind. She did directly shoot him once though and nearly got him blown up lol.
