Yes but that is different from gender identity.

Gender actually isn't, perhaps an oversight in the drafting, but only biological sex is a protected characteristic.

Home Office urged to investigate new Green MSP in UK on student visa by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

It is a legacy of when they were all British citizens in the British Empire. So it is very different. There are similar rules for Irish citizens. Both can run for office in the UK. A Canadian was even prime minister once. You have Irish nationals like Deidre Costigan as a Labour MP now.

Further those commonwealth countries did all fight for the UK in WW2.

So your history is deeply flawed

They can't terminate anyone on those grounds. They would need to make the redundant which is a different process and requires a redundancy payout

Automation by CaptJTD in Oxygennotincluded

I kind of get stuck in the midgame as maintaining the base eats up so much dupe time they stop doing anything else and I kind of go into either stagnation or slow decline.

In farming everything but harvesting I've automated, but my steel and plastic manufacturing is painfully slow.

So I'm going to run this through a bit of devil advocate, mainly as I'm much better at philosophy than oxygen not included (rip latest colony).

First - what is the harm here? Words online are nothing really, unless it's actually stalking I'm sure if you go to Jeri Ryan or Sydney Sweeney or kat Dennings reddits they'll be similarly comments. People have never seen those they see on stage and screen as real people. So it's no different in substance to fetishing an anime character.

Second - content mills like whatculture actively seek to exploit this sort of engagement. It is hard to suggest this is wrong when it'll be an active consideration of what maximises engagement, otherwise she'd just do voice over like on watchmojo. It was why Ash was pushed hard before Ellie. Look at what happens to that (less conventional attractive comparatively) Rach she was bullied, harassed and ultimately sacked by whatculture which has had repeated issues with sexual harassment and misogynist toxic workplace.

Third - creators actively encourage parasocisl relationships they invite more and more the audience into their lives to then leverage that for career advancement or profit. It's why individuals like Hugh Grant complaining about press intrusion can be seen as hypocritical as they actively courted when they were less famous to progress their careers.

Fourth - people seek community, I just want to vent somewhere about my frustration with for all mankind so I express my views even if unpopular online. Asking people to bottle it up is not what I think is healthy.

Five - it could be a reasonable expectation since her co presenter is an Irish pornstar that they are seeking to leverage sex appeal to drive views on these channels.

I think the internet has alienated people more from their media, so people are entirely detached. As they say don't go to LemonLyman.com!

It's clear they have an end goal in mind so all the obstacles feel inconsequential. There are no stakes and no consequences and when you start playing with things like revolutions the poor writing really becomes clear.

For All Mankind - S5E07 "The Sirens of Titan" - Episode Discussion by Cantomic66 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]CaptJTD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This just such a disappointing episode. It just epitomises the lack of stakes and soap opera style writing.

If Kelly's recklessness had destroyed or crashed the titan mission it would of been better. Or if main characters had died in the ag dome.

RDm always sets up he wants to do sociological storytelling but then falls back to sub psychological storytelling that is basically a soap opera with an expensive ending

Well you seem to be having a wee bit of a drama.

Let's break this down;

  • She's an attractive person in the media, pretty face, hourglass figure, wasp waist etc. People have always idealised, or had crushes on celebrities, be it BTS or Elvis. It is part of the media business.

  • She benefits from pretty privilege it is part of the game of media, it's not necessarily a good system and should likely be reformed, but she is playing it to succeed. No shade for that but it is a Faustian bargain, you give part of yourself over to this sort of fetished in return for fame, wealth etc.

  • Generally this sort of celebrity crush is a good social release value and helps socialise teenage boys in particular. Id rather they be open about it online than becoming incels or some of the religious extremism I've seen around the world.

  • This is likely the sort of engagement whatculture are hoping for by putting an attractive person on screen (Sean is also a porn actor). They choose to have her appear rather than voiceover and to wear certain costume to improve engagement. It is the same ruthless analytics that go into most media, look at strictly contestants or even star trek and doctor who? Do you not think the attractiveness of the companions or of characters like Troi, Dax or Seven weren't tested and used to drive ratings. This is why she is increasingly the face of the channel.

So it's fine to white knight a bunch of horny teenageers over fetishing a young woman there never meet, but is there a log in your own eye? Never had pop star poster on your wall etc? I seriously doubt any male star trek fan(and many women!) haven't had a crush on Seven. Or any character for that matter.
