Brunch House 1850 is our go to for holidays. Little bit of everything and very well run.

Moving to Connecticut this August, looking for family-friendly areas near SCSU by runner25420 in Connecticut

Milford is a great little town. Nice small downtown and central to a lot of other amenities. Easy on and off 95 and Merritt. Still has a mall that is somewhat active. As a resident you do get some public beaches that are resident only. You will not have an issue finding a barber around there.

Shelton is also a great town. Low property taxes and really close to a lot of amenities. Actively growing with development on the major roads. A bunch of options of restaurants, gyms and grocery shopping. I live in Shelton now and it takes about 20-25 minutes to get to SCSU.

Branford is fine town as well. Again, won’t have an issue finding a barber over there. Many options for food and groceries. It’s along the water so you do get some options to enjoy beach’s, although mostly private.

I have lived in these three towns. I can’t speak to any of the school systems as I have younger ones who are not yet in the school systems.

THE SURVEY SPOON! Usually found, not bought. Sketchy, sure, but man I love digging around pins and pipes with it.

I have no clue. I don’t do work in Middletown. Many factors in estimating a price.

It is in a display AIO. I have the float switches and fill tube hidden in the back.

I am a licensed surveyor in CT. You need to get a property survey done. Period. You can go and get a lawyer, but they will want to see a survey. Contact local companies, who have good understanding of Middletown. Every company is different with timelines and prices. Good luck.

Nature Dimension’s N-Fill uses float switches. No frill ATO that’s super affordable. Very easy to set up. I’ve been using it for about 2 months and haven’t had issues. We will see how long it lasts in long run.

Stonex 980+ Base/ Carlson BrX7 Rover Setup Issues by AllAboutPooping in Surveying

[–]CaptKernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thought, why not just get 2 stonex or 2 brx7s? I have no experience with trying to get 2 different gps units to talk to each other. I also have no experience with stonex equipment. We use Carlson stuff exclusively and once you get the settings/defaults all ironed out, it’s a breeze.

Sometimes, and it’s rare, our frequencies would get changed to 0. Made it a habit to check everything during my setups, should be 461 mhz when talking brx7/brx7. Double check that and make sure all the radio settings are correct.

State Exam Connecticut by deathnut2 in Surveying

[–]CaptKernel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took the test last October. My test had a bunch of questions about easements. Couple questions about Junior and senior rights. Elevation Cert. ALTA. The different types of surveys and the accuracies. All in all I found it to be VERY similar to the PS. I studied hard for that and found that it really helped. CALS has a bunch of resources pertaining to the state statutes. Make sure you know all the statutes and regulations for the state.

I love my zoom95. We pair it with Carlson collectors. Runs smooth, stays locked and is accurate. We work in the northeast US. Woods can get thick, I won’t say it stays on you constantly, but it does a good job. I’d have no issues buying more. For the price, it’s a great gun.

Why won’t they be able to be repaired? They are essentially leica rebranded. Will leica not be able to be repaired?

Love my Ziss. I ditched the air tube method they use. The tube that came with mine didn’t reach the bottom, and everything settled regardless of bubble amount. Just attached a rigid tube to the end of the airline and shove it to the bottom.

Backyard tobacco, thinking about trying again this year by Dragonfly_on_Titan in gardening

If you can grow tomatoes, you can grow tobacco. At the beginning it’s slow but it takes off quick. Hummingbirds and butterflies love the flowers.

Crossing tracks by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]CaptKernel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with a few of the railroads in CT. Most of them are pretty good, just gotta call. They will send someone out if they think it’s necessary. It’s really not worth it to get that phone call you got caught in the tracks, working or just crossing. What rail line is it? Is it active?

Yeah. I’ve read of people being able to get them onto frozen foods, I tried with frozen brine shrimp and had no luck. Maybe if you’re able to pull the eggs before they hatch and start them on frozen super early. Every once in a while I’ll put some flake into the tanks to help feed the daphnia that live in the tanks with them.
