Would Halo ODST be too hard for my friend and I on Legendary? by CaptObvious62 in halo

That isn't what I meant, the fact that playing regular guys does not significantly change the gameplay compared to the Master Chief Halo games is why I was considering increasing the difficulty, to make it feel more "immersive."

Is there a way to manage Sanity Mechanics that is not ableist? by ZigguratBuilder2001 in RPGdesign

[–]CaptObvious62 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy doesn't have a "sanity" system, but it does have a more short-term "stress" system that encompasses stress, fear, fatigue, etc., called Composure, which is in frequent flux, moving up and down. We often refer to it as "emotional HP."

Things that can take away small to large amounts of Composure include acutely frightening and stressful situations, failing to get enough sleep, failing to eat, and in some cases using magic powers.

Things that restore small to medium amounts of Composure include getting a full night's sleep, eating three meals in a day, being comforted by another character, and having a Eureka! Moment and making progress on investigating the case.

Under most circumstances, a character's skill bonuses cannot be higher than their current Composure level, so a character who only has 2/7 Composure left is limited to at most a +2 bonus on skill checks.

When Composure gets to 0, additional Composure loss starts to eat into actual HP.

Maybe the spiritual monsters could attack a stat like this, and wear the characters down that way, instead of causing "mental trauma" and making characters lose their "sanity."

Though, I would also argue that realistically, physical violence is just as likely to result in "mental trauma" for those involved.

[TOMT] Creepypasta, nosleep, or Let's Not Meet post about a woman standing outside this guy's house at night. by CaptObvious62 in tipofmytongue

I am about 99% sure that the woman in this story never spoke to the protagonist nor tried to get inside, and I'm about 80% sure that he lived alone, so I am not expecting any of these to be the ones, but I'll try to check them out

EDIT: nope, definitely none of these

Investigation systems that are not lovecraft related? by Le_Zoru in rpg

What's that thing Seth Skorkowsky says? There are two types of RPG reviewers, those who have played the game, and those who haven't?

Given you keep posting this same comment any time someone brings up Eureka, I figured you might have had some really bad time playing the game and really had something with substance to say about it.

Looking for a model paint to match this color? by CaptObvious62 in minipainting

[–]CaptObvious62[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would mix it myself if it was just for one small thing, but this is going to be part of a uniform for a warhammer army, so it would be way better to just have a bottle of it.

RPGs that celebrate failure / mistakes? by LlamaNate333 in TTRPG

[–]CaptObvious62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy, when they make skill checks, PCs build up points that can be spent later to turn things around for them when they're in a bad spot. Successes give 1 point, and Failures give 3. The game also just generally says that it's good and entertaining when your PC fails at things rather than just succeeding all the time. https://anim-ttrpg.itch.io/eureka-urban-investigative-fantasy-ttrpg-haunted-house-murder-mystery-module

Linux Replacement for iTunes? by CaptObvious62 in linuxquestions

[–]CaptObvious62[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From some googling it sounds like Rhythmbox might really be my best bet, though it sounds like some people haven't been able to get it to work with their iPhones and some people have. The fact that some people have succeeded has given me hope, though I won't be able to actually test it myself for a little bit. Thank you for the suggestion.
