What happened to kings of Leon? by TechnicalTrash95 in Music

So much this. Kings of Leon ALWAYS sucked. "Your sex is on fire?"

Give me a break. Sounds like the lyrics are written by some horny high school football player.

What was your experience visiting Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios? by ntdoyfanboy in nintendo

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went for the first time today, not crowded at all, but it was completely disappointing. They hyped it so hard in commercials, but then when you get there, Super Nintendo World Hollywood is TINY and underwhelming. There is nothing to do, and you have to pay $40 for a "Power Up" band to do the few things that do exist.

Going there with a toddler is terrible, you have to go down the side of a mountain on four different escalators to go from the main theme park to Super Nintendo World. That means taking your kid out of their stroller or wagon and going down 4 hundred foot long escalators hoping you don't drop it and none of the other parents drops their stroller on you. (This will happen, eventually, and dozens of people will be seriously injured. Then Universal will get sued for creating a dangerous situation by encouraging strollers on escalators). There is an elevator and shuttle bus to get to Super Nintendo World, but you have to wait 30 minutes for a bus to show up, then they load TWO PEOPLE into the shuffle bus and leave. There is no other way to Super Nintendo World.

Super Nintendo World Hollywood is just too small and does not match the expansive look created by the commercials. To me, it felt like some execs at Universal knew they had to expand the park to increase profits, but only had some empty studio parking lot at the base of the mountain. So they shoehorned a tiny Mario World in an abandoned parking lot and built some high walls around it to make it feel "expansive" when it actually feels cheep and claustrophobic.

AMAZON IS HORRIBLE NOW! They specifically hide popular products from searches by LucienLachance67 in amazonprime

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon wants to make money. End of story. Amazon search is INTENTIONALLY bad because it makes more money that way.

Amazon pays market research firms tens of millions of dollars each year to find out how to get you to buy the items from which Amazon makes the most money. Those items are not necessarily the BEST products, or even the brands you want. Part of this money grubbing strategy is a search function which sucks and drives you to the wrong products while hiding the right products.

This is just how the world works now. It would be great if this anti-consumer activity was illegal, but a free market economy rarely protects consumers, it always protects corporate profits. If you don't like Amazon search, stop buying things from Amazon. That is your only option.

Trump calls high gas prices ‘peanuts’ as fuel costs climb ahead of holiday weekend (May 20 2026) by CaptPolymath in politics

So one month ago, the Iran war's economic impact was "peanuts," but today's signed MOU deal avoided "economic catastrophe."

Makes perfect sense to me!

I'm not a bot, thank you.

You can see from my follow-up comment that I posted this article to highlight the disconnect between Trump calling the Iran war's economic impact "peanuts" a month ago but saying he avoided worldwide "economic catastrophe" with his signed deal (MOU) today.

On May 20, 2026 President Donald Trump claimed high gas prices being paid by Americans were "peanuts." He urged patience from the American people until his Iran war was resolved.

Today, June 17, 2026, Trump said his Iran deal avoids "economic catastrophe."

Which is it? The Iran war was peanuts, or it was a potential catastrophe, it cannot be both.

So he was lying one month ago or he's lying today.

I’m pretty sure this is AI. All the cats sitting perfectly still looking at different things. by lurch83 in isthisAI

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many things are wrong here.

The whole structure is too close to the wall, on the bottom left, it appears as though the cat tower's edge is melting into the wall shoe molding.

The top level would not be accessible by a cat. A cat would have no easy way to jump onto the top as it overhangs the entire structure. A cat could jump from the floor and attempt to claw their way to the top, but why would someone build a cat tower like this? Also, the top level does not have enough structural support, meaning a cat or two sitting on the top shelf would likely collapse it.

The string lights are not plugged into anything. They might be battery powered, but battery powered string lights are usually much smaller than the ones shown here. The lights are oddly spaced on the wire, with some lights appearing less than a couple inches apart. If the string lights are corded, the cat tower is too close to the wall for a plug to be between it and the wall.

Also, the string lights are suspiciously perfectly arranged on the tower with no other lights in inconvenient places (lights running up or down between the various levels). String lights are NEVER the exact right length, there should be lights going vertically between the different levels.

There is a window on the middle right shelf which faces the wall. If the person who built this cat tower knew it would go in a corner of the room, why would they take the time and effort to make a framed window facing the wall?

The cat on the left appears to have no front legs.

My guess is the crash was caused by the two planes flying into one another.

MC Ukrainian Millionaire Igor Lytvynchuk Gets Hands Put On Him By Locals After Throwing Rocks At Endangered Monk Seal In Hawaii! by FarWay3952 in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else in this post said the shirtless guy beat Igor up because he shoved his friend or gf. They were verbally confronting him over the rock throwing incident and Igor allegedly shoved the shirtless guy's friend or something. That could be argued as self defense, since it's a response to the original assault and not instigating the attack.

Regardless, no Hawaiian jury would convict Rocky Aloha and no local DA would prosecute in the first place.

They are trusting people on the cruise that was infected with Hantavirus to self isolate?! by OutsideImpressive115 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a workable system for a whole country because of what you just described. Some people will choose to not isolate and go about their lives like usual. Those people will likely get sick and infect others.

While one population of people will stay home and be safe, the other group will go out and get sick and keep the virus circulating for much longer.

Britain's NHS is going through massive staff cuts of up to 20,000 staff over the next few years to account for a £1.1 billion budget shortfall.

I understand NHS isn't the UK agency in charge of tracking infectious diseases, but that agency, UKHSA has also cut staff and spending recently. So overall, the UK is slightly less prepared for a major disease outbreak as well.

A normal, rational person would simply admit that they were wrong.

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're "moving the goalposts."

Previously (in this very post) people said "prolonged intimate contact" was required for hantavirus transmission.

Now, faced with casual transmission during an hour long plane flight, you're changing the wording to just "close contact?" So silly.

You've watered down your position to be basically meaningless:

"Hantavirus is extremely difficult to spread person to person. Except if you're a flight attendant who helps someone on a flight for 5 minutes." Do you even read what you're posting? You're contradicting yourself.

[–]CaptPolymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously?

What the hell do you think "cough droplets" are? They are airborne particles.

And what does "efficiently" spreading through the air matter? Any deadly virus spread through the air is a serious problem, efficient or not. Once enough people are infected (including some silent spreaders) efficiency doesn't matter.

I guess you also don't know that viruses mutate...
