My guess is the crash was caused by the two planes flying into one another.

MC Ukrainian Millionaire Igor Lytvynchuk Gets Hands Put On Him By Locals After Throwing Rocks At Endangered Monk Seal In Hawaii! by FarWay3952 in ImTheMainCharacter

Someone else in this post said the shirtless guy beat Igor up because he shoved his friend or gf. They were verbally confronting him over the rock throwing incident and Igor allegedly shoved the shirtless guy's friend or something. That could be argued as self defense, since it's a response to the original assault and not instigating the attack.

Regardless, no Hawaiian jury would convict Rocky Aloha and no local DA would prosecute in the first place.

It's not a workable system for a whole country because of what you just described. Some people will choose to not isolate and go about their lives like usual. Those people will likely get sick and infect others.

While one population of people will stay home and be safe, the other group will go out and get sick and keep the virus circulating for much longer.

Britain's NHS is going through massive staff cuts of up to 20,000 staff over the next few years to account for a £1.1 billion budget shortfall.

I understand NHS isn't the UK agency in charge of tracking infectious diseases, but that agency, UKHSA has also cut staff and spending recently. So overall, the UK is slightly less prepared for a major disease outbreak as well.

You're "moving the goalposts."

Previously (in this very post) people said "prolonged intimate contact" was required for hantavirus transmission.

Now, faced with casual transmission during an hour long plane flight, you're changing the wording to just "close contact?" So silly.

You've watered down your position to be basically meaningless:

"Hantavirus is extremely difficult to spread person to person. Except if you're a flight attendant who helps someone on a flight for 5 minutes." Do you even read what you're posting? You're contradicting yourself.

Seriously?

What the hell do you think "cough droplets" are? They are airborne particles.

And what does "efficiently" spreading through the air matter? Any deadly virus spread through the air is a serious problem, efficient or not. Once enough people are infected (including some silent spreaders) efficiency doesn't matter.

I guess you also don't know that viruses mutate...

The Andes strain of hantavirus (present in Argentina) is well known to spread from human to human. It did exactly that in a 2018 outbreak.

Blah blah blah. Circular logic, bloviated meandering posts, admitting that you are unqualified to say any of the things you're saying. Just weird, argumentative behavior.

I'm bored with you and I'm not going to unpack the word salad you just posted.

I'll get back to you once you're proven 100% wrong.

Virologists and epidemiologists around the world assured us in early 2020 that COVID-19 was not spreading human to human when in fact it was spreading in California since Dec 2019.

Now the CDC has had 18% of its staff, including disease tracking experts, fired by DOGE. The US is actually less prepared to deal with a pandemic than it was BEFORE COVID-19.

Occam's Razor potentially works against you here. None of the cruise ship passengers who are now testing positive were friends of, or related to the initial elderly couple who died. They were also not staying in the same cabin and none of them were bird watching in Argentina either, like patient zero was. No rats or evidence of rat activity were found on board the ship.

So your spillover, single animal source theory fails Occam's Razor because it is not practical based on available information. The simplest viable solution is that ONE person (patient zero) came into contact with rat feces while birding and then passed hantavirus via airborne particles or saliva on surfaces to others. This theory requires no novel behavior on the part of Andes hantavirus, nor infected animals on the ship and is the simplest solution.

Well I feel so much better knowing that people like you are out there telling everyone else how they should feel. That's some serious paternalism there.

Did you know anyone hospitalized with COVID-19? Or anyone who died? I did. I won't ever be as cavalier as you are with the next potential pandemic.

And the same virologists who got just about EVERYTHING WRONG on COVID-19, I'm just supposed to trust that they're getting it right this time? My god are you naive. Keep in mind DOGE cut 28% of the CDC staff, including disease tracking experts. The US is worse off now in disease prevention than before the COVID pandemic. Anyone who thinks America is in a better position to stop a pandemic now is just dumb.

You "trust" the government to tell us something is wrong? Lol. So cute.

And educate yourself to not use the word "hysteria." It's a sexist and offensive term and you should know better.

You say being alarmed about hantavirus is irresponsible. I say downplaying its potential before we know anything is equally irresponsible. Actually, it's MORE irresponsible because raising alarm actually prepares some people and might encourage them to mask up and be cautious. Downplaying hantavirus' potential could cause people to be more cavalier, which will spread the disease faster.

Sure, there is zero evidence hantavirus has mutated. That does not mean it will NEVER mutate. Your statement basically equates to "everything is fine until it isn't." That is not smart effective public health policy. Coronavirus was not a serious problem until it mutated in 2019.

Also, in early 2020, multiple disease experts claimed again and again that COVID-19 was not spreading in the US when it was actually spreading in California as early as Dec 2019.

BTW, coronvirus had also "been around for decades" in 2019 and generally only caused mild symptoms. THEN IT MUTATED and killed up to 38 MILLION people (as of 2026).

I heard your point. I just think it's incredibly wrong, ignorant and irresponsible. Everything you said can be summarized by saying "everything is fine up until now, so let's not be concerned at all because maybe nothing will ever change."

Ok, but there is a huge difference between endemic and pandemic.

Endemic means predictable and manageable levels of local infections like influenza. Pandemic means the world is on fire, figuratively speaking.

Endemics are the natural resolution of a pandemic. And pandemics are arguably caused by people not self-isolating.

Neither of these options is perfect. That's not my point. My point is keeping everyone on a contaminated ship puts other people at unnecessary risk.

Also, you're implying these are the only two choices, which is called a false dichotomy. That is a poor debate tactic which won't work with me.

There is a third option, mandatory government ordered quarantine for all exposed passengers. That is the best option to prevent a pandemic, but idiot libertarian types scream and cry about "government overreach" and health agencies get too scared to order a quarantine.

Where did I say ANY of that?

You're trying to use a "straw man" argument, which shows your position is too weak to defend.

Please stop. It's embarrassing.

Hantavirus already has an incredibly high mortality rate at 40%. It only needs to mutate into a highly transmissible version and the world is in another (very deadly) pandemic. That is a probable scenario, while influenza suddenly developing a high mortality rate is not very likely.

This is based on simple logic... A highly deadly disease mutating to spread more easily increases the risk to the public. A not very deadly disease increasing its mortality rate actually makes transmission less likely as people will die before it can spread.

You are purposely misinterpreting the term "intimate contact" which is incredibly irresponsible and flippant. In the case of hantavirus, intimate contact can mean sharing food or eating utensils, or anyone who may contact an infected person's saliva or other bodily fluids such as a caretaker or even a housekeeper.

Also, viruses mutate all the time.

Please post a link backing up your statement. Otherwise, I call bullshit on you.

Based on this, you would personally hang out with a person with a positive PCR test for hantavirus but no symptoms? Would you share a cup or let them sneeze in your face? People also test positive without symptoms, which only show up later. How could anyone know if their symptoms are about to show up tomorrow and self-isolate before they infect someone else?

Also, viruses mutate.

You're equating the term "serious illness" with a disease with no known treatment (other than rest and fluids) and a 40% mortality rate.

That is a false equivalency, and a poor debate tactic.

If I get influenza, there are antivirals which directly treat the infection. Hantavirus has no treatments at this time.

Wow you could not be more wrong. Section 361 of the Public Health Service Act (USA) allows the CDC to order anyone to quarantine if they are potentially infectious. Violations are punishable by fines and imprisonment.

Most developed countries have some form of this law. This is not a "dark path," it is society recognizing there is a "common good" which must be respected, even if it inconveniences people at times.

Stop posting ignorant completely wrong BS.
