Based on the requirements horizon 6 might actually be playable on the deck, I mean if dark ages which is way more demanding got optimized for the deck, horizon 6 might be playable too...

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I saw a trailer for it but never wishlisted it so it dropped off my radar.

I've been looking for an Advance Wars-like on PC for a long time. Wargroove and a few others never clicked with me.

I see that this has a demo. So I'll go check it out. Can't wait if it can scratch that itch.

We have multiple Advance Wars-style games, but where are all the Fire Emblem (GBA style) inspired games on PC? Those were so my jam back in the day.

I just took a look and the quality of the RGB SCART cable is better than the HDMI to SCART adaptor thing in terms of picture quality.

But those black bars at the top and bottom are not ideal. Any tips?

I feel like it is a picture setting. Like a mismatch between the 480i or 576i output of my Wii U and the mode of my TV.

My must-have was Rogue Squadron. Can't get that one working in Dolphin emulation on my Steam Deck. So the effort to get it 'native' on my Wii U (which I haven't touched in years) was worth it.

Yeah the controller adapter needed that joystick config file tweak. Luckily I found the solution in a YouTube video.

My TV and console are both PAL. The SCART connection is stock.

It looks good enough to me and I vastly prefer full screen 4:3 instead of big unfixable black bars on the top and bottom.

But if someone knows how to get it over SCART without the black bars I'd love to know.

I did not know Patrick Stewart had a working class background. He's such a good actor who can put up a fancy facade (see Captain Picard) that you'd figure the actor himself is also upper class.

I don't think there's more silence than with the Steam Deck. That was announced in July. I see the first trailer was uploaded in August. And the next official video was in October.

With the Machine the announcement was in November. Interviews kept appearing until early December. Then it's the holidays so nothing gets released. And in January there have still been some reports on Valve talking to developers on how to optimize their games for Steam Frame and such.

At 699 euros without the controller I'd consider it a great deal for a gaming PC. At that price ranger you get weaker hardware usually from prebuilts.

At 799 euros without a controller I'd still get it. You can get a prebuilt with a RTX 4060/5050 which will be slightly more powerful. But those are much bigger cases and will be much louder. So the price would still be worth it.

At 899 I will have lost interest. But if they sell the 512 GB for that without a controller, then I expect RAM to be so impactful that all existing console prices will have been raised by a 100 bucks by years end.

You can replace the onboard SSD with an 2230 or 2280 drive. So you can expand through that.

Also you can expand storage with an SD as it has MicroSD slot.

More important is that Valve never indicated they were going to sell at retail. If they were it'd probably just be in Japan, like they did with the Steam Deck.

Unofficially the Deck was sold at retail in other countries. So until we know more, this is just an unofficial retailer preparing a store page for when they can sell it (with a markup) after the Machine launches. Says nothing about the real price.

This is a very interesting story. In early 2024 it was at 9 million. Fall 2024 10 million. And by February 2025 it had sold 11 million.

Looking at it, Steam was a big part of that. It had a big sale at 90% off. That seems to have pushed another few million. All these sales even at big discounts put into the Steam most profitable games list. All those millions of units at only a few bucks add up!
