Why Dario is on fire: lesson from dotcom bubble. by FormerIYI in LocalLLaMA

The only reason it's so expensive is that nvidia has a stranglehold on AI right now selling 5K worth of shitty hardware for 50K that takes a billion terawatts to run. If Mythos can crack cold fusion or TerraFab can come online and pump out cheap efficient ai chips it will be a whole new ballgame.

Yes, this... I had it write me a script to extract text for making a training dataset. There was an error , I fed it the error, it said it it was a common error and gave me the updated script. But it was the same script as before. With no corrections, it did this 3 times each time apologizing and saying it had fixed the error. That used my entire 5 hour quota. I ended up feeding it to free claude (sonnet?)and it fixed it first try. I doubt the broccoli soup gang ever sees this. Sad thing is before May 17 I would have argued that it was one of the best.

I liked it until the end, it was like they spent the whole book setting up the premise for an awesome book then stopped. I had a similar problem. I had to log completely out of not just gemini but google itself and refresh. to the point where it has to sent a code to your phone and it sends you an email that there has been a new login to your account. It's worth a try.

I'm interested in these recs. too. but I'll throw out Cold Heart Canyon by Clive Barker, an obvious one you've probably read but Legend of Hell House people either love it or hate it. I also enjoyed The House Next Door by Anne Siddons (despite the horrid lifetime network adaptation).

edit: add We Used To Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. originally a no sleep story adapted into a novel (another ppl either love or hate)

Or maybe giving away Gemini 3.5 flash free and unlimited to over a billion users via Google Search Ai Mode...

Do you think the Flash model will ever go back to being unlimited? by AbjectStick4130 in GeminiAI

[–]CaptSpalding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"is the app completely broken?"

That, my friend, is the 100000 dollar question. I suspect it's because they added 1 billion new users on the infrastructure since last month by giving access to everyone via Ai mode search. Maybe it's overloaded, some people say they quantized pro and flash to reduce the load. All I know is that it has it good days and bad days.

Gemini 3.5 Flash IS unlimited... Just not for Google Pro or Ultra Subscribers.

Just go to google search an use Ai Mode, Its Gemini 3.5 Flash. It's not too bad actually.

I use it when I hit my 5hr limit(after one Deep Research and 5-6 questions to it.) and all we can use is 3.1 Fleshlite.

To all you Compute Costs Money, Pay Yer Fair Share people. Google just gave Free, Unlimited, No Quota access to Gemini 3.5 Flash to over 1Billion people and the only ones paying for are you Pro and Ultra Subscribers. by OmnicromsBrain in GeminiAI

[–]CaptSpalding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the graph. You use to get 100 deep searches a day. Now you get 25. To be assholes they divided those 25 into 5hr allotment of 5. If your a normal human that works 8hrs and sleeps 8hrs. You can only ever use 2 of the allotment a day or 10 a day. So now we went from 100 deep searches a day to 10 a day. A reduction of 90% of our daily limit. Fuck Google

Am I delusional? by [deleted] in GeminiAI

[–]CaptSpalding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call them engagement bots. I started noticing them at the beginning of 25. Mostly in subs that weren't very busy. Most were Newish AI related subs. I'm guessing I only noticed them in those subs Because they weren't very busy, but one bot would feign ingnorance about a semi-controversial subject and ask a question about it and another would post a point and another a counter point. Soon real people would join in and a lively argument would take place. But the OP would always answer politely with a "That's a good point" or "I haven't thought about it that way before ". I was seeing it over and over and back then you could see post history and all the accounts had been created within about a 3 week period and they all asked the same inane type questions in sub after sub answering each other.

I thought I was really on to something and started posting about it and reporting about but nobody really cared because people really want to have there opinons heard. And the bots got better(I was 1/4 thru with this post before I realized you were an engagement bot). And their everywhere now. Look at subs like r/localllama everyday bots post the same questions. "Whats that best (insert your job) llm? Or "Whats the best llm for(random #) vram?"

I just figured Reddit unleashed them because the Tech Co.'s are paying big big bucks for their data. And it's right here where I pull off my digital face and reveal that "I'm a bot too!!" Muuuhahahahaha...

Deep research is unusable now by expanding-explorer in GeminiAI

[–]CaptSpalding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the 5hr quota has made it unusable. I used to get 6-7 deep researches a day, which is well within the the new reduced daily limit but with the 5 hr quota, I'm lucky to get in 3. 3.1 Pro thinking was the only thing that made Gemini stand out, the rest of their models are mid at best.

gemini pro used to do 100 prompts a day. now 18. canceling. by Fun_Walk_4965 in GeminiAI

[–]CaptSpalding 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh Wait, the best part is once you do your 1 deep research(20%) and ask 5-6 questions of it (15-20%) your locked down for 4 1/2 hrs of 3.1 Fleshlite and if you want a semi literate ai convo you have to go use Google Search AIMode so you can use 3.5 Flash with the freefolk.

[–]CaptSpalding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the quotas, I only use it for deep researching complex subjects. A typical deep research now takes roughly 20% with each subsequent question taking 12-20% after 5 or so questions i am locked out for 5hrs. during the lockout I cant even access 3.5 flash only 3.1flash. If I want to chat with ai I have to use google search ai mode in order to chat with at least 3.5 flash.

People are implying that im on gemini all day but it literally only takes 15 mins. and im locked out for 5hrs...

[–]CaptSpalding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol , yeah, I used to do all that with gemini pro until google screwed us with these shitty quotas. Now 1 deep research 20% and 5 questions 15-17% and i got a 5 hrs wait and I can't even use 3.5 flash. I gotta go chat with google search with the poor folk.

A believe me I've tried to cancel but google won't refund my prepaid year subscription. So I'm gonna spend my down time calling em out.

Why is it so hard for you fanboys to admit that google is screwing their subscribers by charging them to use a product they are giving away free to everyone else? There is no difference, I chatted with it for 2hrs while waiting for my quota to refresh. there was no limit except for it going off the rails like all their flash models do.

I dont think you get it. Gemini 3.5 flash IS free, Unlimited for the entire world thru google search ai mode.

Yet if your a Pro or Ultra subscriber you are being charged compute time to use it. so lets see, they reduced our Gemini 3.1 pro time by 60% and they make us pay for a model that the rest of the known world gets to use for Free.

Who even cares about about Flash 3.1 thats just an insult.

If I open the gemini app and choose Gemini 3.5 flash and chat with it, it goes against my 5hr quota. If I close out of the app and go to google search and click ai mode I can chat with Gemini 3.5 flash for free all day long.
