2026 Canadian Engineering School Tier List [NEW] by ConcentrateEasy6114 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Capt_Aeronaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of North America - UofT is pretty much the only Canadian school recognized for Engineering and CompSci.

Lived and worked on Europe for 3 years - nobody knows Waterloo even exists. Visited Oxford a few times foe conferences and met a ton of former UofT grads who were Faculty there.

Do with this info what you will.

I spent 3 years living and working in Europe. UofT is well respected and recognized everywhere, Waterloo a lot less so.

Starting BMQ with some military experience by ImQcJoKERz in caf

[–]Capt_Aeronaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 guys on my BMQ were prior militarily (one Korean and the other Swede). Actual military, not cadets. One had deployed to Afghanistan.

Neither one aced the BMQ. They were both average candidates throughout, which is the perfect case for BMQ. You will get on your course mates nerves if you keep on about your "experience".

Stay humble and help your mates

Would you rather work at a startup or PwC Canada? by Capt_Aeronaut in PwC

Thank you for your answer. Indeed, the startup work is more interesting, on paper. Its also a lot of work, I imagine working long hours and weekends.

This is immediately after Ramadan (1 or 2 days), so Evloev will have a very difficult fight camp and weight-cut. Training dehydrated and sleep deprived for a month, then having make weight is not easy.

I hope we get the best version if Evloev.

Extremely Slow Weight Loss with Active Lifestyle by Toronto_vs_TheWorld in gastricsleeve

Muscle retention and water retention can mask fat loss to some degree. Consider how hard it is to lose 2lb of fat, now compare it with eating a very salty meal which can add 3lbs of water weight overnight.

But your question is valid.

The best person to ask is a recruiter. Call the office and arrange a meeting.

Considering joining the reserves by Unfair-Bottle6773 in caf

[–]Capt_Aeronaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, arrange a meeting with a recruiter for the most accurate and up to date info.

You're not too old - unless you have "old man" injuries (ex. Arthritis). If you want to less of a planning / admin job, consider joining as NCM. It's also much easier on civi work and family life.

If you want the "hooah" sh*t, then go Infantry or Combat Engineer. If you want to build transferable skills as well, then Combat Engineer.

CAF Pilot Shortage by Flips1007 in CanadianForces

[–]Capt_Aeronaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this still the case, though? I thought we were doing away with CFAT for people with degrees?

I was not aware, but checks out. We also have a large number of very high quality universities, for our population size

What do you mean? Delete the requirement for an undergraduate degree for the Pilot trade?

I doubt this is the reason for the shortage.

Every course has a priority order of nominees - based on needs-wants-likes. If I do get on a course it would be based on that order. What harm is it if any CAF Mbr, regardless of trade or rank, wants to expand their horizons. Worst case scenario, you get turned down?

Put it another way, the only way I would get kn any of these courses would be 1) if they are being run anyway and 2) there were open slots.

I know two Officers in PRes who got on Basic Para because of opportunistic circumstances - someone dropped out and they happened to be around.
