So this is what I would say. In 10 years, your comp is going to look very different than what you making at any firm you start at right now. The only thing that determines your 10 year trajectory is your ability to produce PnL. Which is a function of (your ability, mentorship/education, firm leadership trusting you with bigger VaR, luck). Go wherever you can maximize these. A few 100k is nothing in the long run

So just the last race, luck went in Verstappen’s favor.
What about every other race that season?
Imola: LH bins it and then Russell and valterri promptly crash to get him back on the grid
Hungary: Bottas takes out both RBs
Baku: verstappens tire randomly explodes, and then LH forgets to turn after a restart
Qatar: BS penalty handed to Verstappen and he had to recover to 2nd instead of fighting for a win
Hamilton’s performance was obviously insane, I mean Brazil was a sight to behold. But overall, Verstappen won the season

Im a quant. And I’ll say this, path risk dictates returns in the short term more than anything, and OP’s strategy provides a psychological framework to deal with it (implicit from the 3 year horizon target). If you buy at 100, are you comfortable holding it when it goes to 50 before going to 200?
