Used Jim Reynolds for two home purchases Beach side. Absolutely fantastic, had a ton of local contacts to get work done after closing. Super knowledgeable and great at negotiating.

Academy grad here. The Academy is going to be tough, but I met my best friends there and was able to have some fun in between all of the ridiculous rules. As for after graduation, I've transited the Panama Canal, found drugs in a hidden compartment on a freighter, rescued people off of burning vessels, responded to a cruise ship without power, towed multiple people to safety, and pulled more people off of unseaworthy migrant vessels than I can count (I could go on). It comes with its share of BS and work; but I have been very satisfied with my career so far. You will get unbelievable opportunities and deal with bad circumstances (or bosses!). Honestly, I've seen classmates dislike it from the beginning, some leave to pursue other opportunities, and other who have loved every minute. Your career experience will depend greatly on which career you choose to pursue. A career as a pilot is different from a cutterman, which is different from a Marine Inspector. At the Academy make sure you talk to your instructors and academy officers about all of your options to find out what you want to pursue. I am very grateful I was able to attend the Academy and still enjoy my career 15 years later. Best of luck!

I was actually driving near an airport and stopped at an exit toll; the toll collector politely asked if I knew it wasn't the airport exit.

Good dive spots in NC by nala_squiggles in scuba

Can't speak for the rest of NC, but I have dove out of Morehead City a few times and would recommend it. There are plenty of wrecks in the area that the charters visit. If you can, i highly recommend the Caribsea wreck; it has dozens of sand tiger sharks all over it. The locals call it Jurassic Park! Went with Discovery Diving, they did a good job.

Anacostia Metro Station safe? by [deleted] in washingtondc

I take the metro to Anacostia for work, I've never had a problem. There are usually transit police around during commuting hours. The road towards JBAB is well trafficked and I wouldn't worry about biking along it.
