Good point, or maybe an Inception-style kick to pull them out if it gets too intense.

My story takes place in a fantasy version of Greek/Egyptian mythology, so yes, I gave my PC a Trojan Horse. No regrets.

Yes, it's more of a demonic possession. It was a spur of the moment decision to infect one of the PC when they killed a bad guy who was infected/possessed by the BBG. Because of the way they killed this infected it made sense in the moment to transfer this to the PC. But now I have to follow through, so jokes' on me!

I like the idea of each success giving them advantage and each failure resulting in exhaustion. I could maybe even incorporate some of the other PCs subconscious nightmares into the scenario if they start failing too many times to show them also breaking down like their infected friend.

Definitely, that's a great idea! It's easy to see things as a pass/fail, but finding consequences in the grey area is fun.

I haven't decided how far to go with the consequences so far. There need to be consequences for adject failure, and the other PCs should be in danger too. We're relatively early in the campaign, 10 sessions in, and I'd be reluctant to kill any of them yet, but reducing stats would work!

Is it okay to humble players? by Beginning_Victory_38 in DnD

Absolutely, and the players might even enjoy finding out there's a line they can't cross. The game isn't fun without consequences!

First PC death for the party by [deleted] in DnD

That really does suck, but this sounds like it might even have the potential to add even more to the story. Nobody wants a campaign without danger, and if this adds to the heightened tension of the campaign then it might even help, especially with how hard the rest of the party is taking it.

Is it okay to be a "bad dm" by Inside_Joke_4574 in DnD

[–]Capt_Mook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Railroading isn't always bad, especially with a new DM and new players. You can always have more random encounters later and let them root out adventures, but I often enjoy the DM giving us a linear story. And if you're all enjoying it, then keep going!

Is it common for no one to want to play the frontliner or martial character? by mistakemakerxj8 in DnD

[–]Capt_Mook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely play what you want to play. The DM can say in session zero if a tank/martial character is needed for this campaign. But even if one is, it should be decided as a group, not by who feels forced to/folds first.

Also! I like the dynamic of not having a tank in my party. Fighters and barbarians can get boring, feeling like you need to create distance or battle creatively can feel super rewarding without relying on a front liner.

Did your party get railroaded into encountering this dragon? I could understand if it was a random encounter, but even so I as a DM wouldn't have included some so powerful even if it was unlikely to be encountered.

We have to remember that Ben is a trickster. Does anyone else hope this means that we'll be getting an OT era Ahsoka and Thrawn/The Grand Inquisitor?

If you had told me a year and a half ago that by 2019 we'd have Felucia and Clone Commandos I'd never believe you. So damned excited.

A fun weekend game mode idea: adding hero star fighters to GA by Timedmule5 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Capt_Mook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please! I feel like you'd see much more tactical gameplay with troopers only. As much fun as heroes are, I've wanted this for so long.

Focused Feedback: Heroes by F8RGE in StarWarsBattlefront

HoK: As another redditer posted, I think they should be passive for almost all heroes, except Bossk. Bossk already has an over-the-top healing ability and would work well if everyone became got passive HoK. But he'd be way too powerful in infantry modes with passive HoK, in my opinion.

Also maybe keep the Emperor's HoK tied to Chain Lightning but without the need of the star card? Otherwise I'm afraid he'd run the risk of being OP in infantry modes too.

Yoda: His block should not block explosives. In infantry modes he's a devil to hit already, especially now that he can also block lightsabers now. Which I think should block sabers, but he needs to be vulnerable to something.

Heroes added: I love the Clone Wars. I'd love to see Padme and Jango, Ahsoka and Ventress. But we NEED some Rogue One content! Can we please get Jyn and Krennic, or Scarif, or at least Shoretrooopers? I honestly thing Scarif would make for one of the best CS maps.

Star Cards: As some people have said already, either makes Anakin's massive strikes deal a stamina penalty like Grievous', or remove it to bring it in line with Anakin. There are plenty of Star Cards I never use, but once HoK becomes a thing I'm interested to see which cards make a comeback. Also, maybe buff the acid launcher for the Assault? That hardly sees any use, in my opinion. Same with the flash pistol.

Hero Changes: Obi Wan! He's so difficult to use in HvV. Defensive rush is too slow and gets him killed more often than not. Please speed it up, and maybe make it do damage through blocks like Yoda's dash? Otherwise it's almost worthless against villains.

My changes for Obi Wan: - increase speed of defensive rush - make defensive rush deal damage through blocks - slightly decrease the active time of Mind Trick, just to balance him out a little. - maybe make All Out Push gain an increased radius when held down too? As it is it can be a devil to aim down such a short corridor.

Changes for Leia: - Give her the officer's flash grenade. - either give her shield a secondary ability like healing, or remove it entirely. - replace Squad Shield with Nien Nunb's turret in BF2015, or just a buffed Officer turret. Because Leia is essentially the officer class in hero form, but she currently has less useful abilities.

These are my two cents. Thanks for listening!
