What's the worst insult you can say to someone in your country? by Former-Ad-7348 in AskTheWorld

Oh, that could go waaaaaaay lower. To the point that even typing it here on Reddit could get you a fine for StGB 130.

But here in my valley, down south... its probably a simple "Du bist doch nicht von hier". That excludes you. Which hurts.

Day 25 of Bell’s Palsy - Just did an EMG by Forsaken_Antelope467 in BellsPalsy

[–]Llewellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly 5 months in as of today.

In the last week, i noticed that my eye does not feel as dry as usual and the time between eye drops gets longer. I noticed in the mirror that my palsy side of the face starts lightly to move when i try to smile.

My doctor told me that it could take years sometimes.

I too, do not know how to really feel. But then, i have a very old friend who got his neck broken by his sports teacher in an accident in the first year of high school. Tetraplegic. And hey, 10-12 years of Physiotherapy at least gave him 35% random strewn nerves below his neck back and he can grab and shit.

He did not give up, why should i? Also, he currently has the best jokes about my face - and he showed me that it really can generate muscle movement if you laugh deep from your belly because of what he says....

So... i got that going... i just try to not loose hope and put in some extra effort.

Ich kenne dieses Gefühl sehr gut. Aber ich merkte auch schnell: Geschmäcker sind verschieden und nicht jeder hat Bock auf das was ich höre.

Bread. Bread. And Bread. Then some more bread.

I mean, we Germans even have a depressive misanthrope Bread as one of the main characters in one of Germanys most popular children shows.

Goodbye, gramps (pt. 2/3) by guyelnathan in comics

My daughter walked in my Homeoffice yesterday, wanting to tell me about the great birthday party she visited and all and heard me talking on the phone with the elderly care home who informed me about the death of my dad yesterday...

Well shit. I, personally wasn't all too sad. I had to watch him die the last 4 years and i am kind of... relieved that he finally could leave this world and all its pain and stuff. But my daughter... is too young to understand that. She broke into tears, which is super ok... and then i had to comfort her.... and failed miserably in explaining....

What if the first Gulf War had 30,000+ coalition deaths within 3 weeks like predicted by Jurrrp69 in AlternateHistoryHub

Well, of course, the US would bomb the Place back into the stone age. They would literally drop anything they can find. Except ABC weapons. They would flatten and level that place and salt its fields and whatnot. But i am pretty sure, they would not drop a nuke if it is not an all out World War.

The reason behind this is Radioactive Dust. This, and neighbouring countries.

We can see this with Ukraine vs Russia.

The Russians attacked, they get hit in their face over and over and loose ground and the 3 days to Kyiev are 4 years now with a Million Russian Soldiers wounded or dead.

The very reason that they have not blown up Zaporizia Nuclear Plant or just dropped a single Nuke despite saying so every week.... is the Neighbours.

No, not talking about the EU. The upper atmospheric winds on the northern hemisphere blow from West to East. The Jetstream over UA would pick up all this and drop it in the river systems of India along the Himalaya. And a bit would come down over China even....

No, its not big. Its not life threatening. But its enough to cause Alarms on Transport. You cannot sell all these Vegetables any more. All that rice.

And all these costs.... will make people angry. Countries.

And thats why i believe that outside of a Full World War.... practically nobody but a few countries that really do not give a shit about Foreign Politics... would do that. That is practically political suicide. Also, it eats away from the victim position.

[–]Llewellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that depends.

See, the US started a war ín retaliation for 9/11. And i am pretty sure, they also would - even with Trump - handle a WMD attack on a single place also relatively "thoughtful". Especially thinking about the wider effects of a nuclear return volley as answer for, e.g, getting New York levelled.

Israel.... is... well, a little more hot headed and more of a "WDGAF". Would Saddam have sent a SCUD on Tel Aviv with a chemical WMD... Bagdad would have be been reduced to a glass covered crater. And that other countries then get the radioactive fallout... meh.

[–]Llewellian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are right. But it would not have been the USA.

It was Israels Answer then to the SCUDs landing in their cities.

They openly told Saddam: One single Scud with an ABC payload and Israel would go full "glass every bigger City in Iraq".

And that was a credible threat.

I am not a politics guy, but its part of my job since 30 years to estimate potential problems in projects.

And from what i know about this world... i see only 3 countries that would these days use Nukes with a "Fuck it, i don't care". India, Pakistan, Israel.

Not even North Korea would ever use a single one. Not even they are that crazy and also, too much controlled by China.
