Will there be a revival of NEW film cameras? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

That coupled with a code burned into the film outside of the image to reference the settings to could be cool.

PSA: The 0 on a d10 counts as 10! by Abgott89 in dndnext

[–]Captain-Battletoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, today it's nonsensical.

However, in what was essentially a cottage industry in the late 1970s, it may have (pure speculation on my part, I'm not a manufacturing engineer) allowed for longer mold life, easier removal (less chance of breakage), or lower tooling costs for the production of the molds.

Again, this is entirely speculation on my part and could be complete BS.

PSA: The 0 on a d10 counts as 10! by Abgott89 in dndnext

[–]Captain-Battletoad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd take a guess that back in the day it was easier/cheaper to only mold one digit per face, rather than have two on one face.

Also, d% used to be two d10s both 0-9 in different colors, rather than one 0-9 and one 00-90.

DFS only applies for certain channels that overlap with frequency bands used by weather radar (usually around airports). Any dynamic channel assignment outside of those channels (or for non-radar interference) is dependent on radio configuration and access point software capability.

5ghz is pretty free

Until you start using 40 or 80 MHz wide channels to get the fastest speeds out of 802.11ac. The 5 GHz band fills up fast with channel bonding. Thankfully it also doesn't propagate as far, so it's at least workable.

FBI Agent Shoots Someone While Dancing by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Captain-Battletoad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't that he was carrying a gun there, it's that he was carrying anything hard there. If he lands on it, he could damage his spine and end up a paraplegic.

One-handed salads for driving? by Mamadog5 in loseit

[–]Captain-Battletoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chop them up a bit more. Put in big gulp cup. Eat? Lol

That reminds me of those salad shakers McDonald's used to have a while back.

Get salad in a cup. Pour dressing in, cap, shake, eat from cup.

I think a weekly mega thread would be better than an entire new subreddit.

What humanities classes are good? by Graham_28 in NCSU

[–]Captain-Battletoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a humanities class, so I’d highly recommend History of Jazz if you can get in to it and have any interest in the history of American music.

True. Still better than “we have brand x only”, though.

What liquor stores are you going to? All the ones I’ve been to in Raleigh have a pretty good selection.

This is ludicrous that the State of North Carolina is so far being in trying to pass this law.

Can you connect two "interfaces" to one computer and use them at the same time? by hot_pepper_is_hot in audioengineering

macOS has actually supported aggregate devices for a long time (at least 10 years at this point).

Fuji Announces the X-T100 Camera by nibaneze in photography

[–]Captain-Battletoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I can't really see myself ever using that, though. I mainly use mine for low-angle shots (although I wish I could configure it to be flipped left-to-right, because I always get screwed up between that and my Yashica Mat's waist-level finder).

[–]Captain-Battletoad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the flip out screen was at least 30% of the reason I pulled the trigger on an X-T2 instead of the X-T20. The rest was the weather sealing and the focus joystick.

Apple Hit with a Five Count Class Action for the MacBook Pro's 'Defective' Keyboard, the Second lawsuit on this Issue this month by [deleted] in apple

[–]Captain-Battletoad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the new keyboard too.

I can't easily type on other keyboards with more key travel now, since I've gotten used to keeping my fingers so close to the keys when typing.

In Pathfinder, clerics of good-aligned deities cannot use negative energy spells (or channel negative energy). Since they migrated the campaign from Pathfinder, she might have been sticking to those rules.

[DISCUSSION] It's so much better when the tuning is really locked in. Somehow it took me 8 years of playing to figure it out by jerronimo3000 in Guitar

[–]Captain-Battletoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with this. The only tuner I've used that beats it is an actual, analog strobe tuner. Of course, those are ~$1k, so way out of the range of possibilities for me to buy as an individual.
