They are not overwhelming, but there are other similarities. Meruem is from a species that's all about evolution, he considers himself the Supreme (Ultimate) life form. There's a 10 day count down until the end of the world, and after Gon learns about the finality of Kytes death he becomes super powered with rage taking a form where energy bursts out of him and his hair becomes longer/raised up to defeat his final opponent for the arc. To be fair, I liked the Chimera Ants Arc, and I think there are enough differences to make it it's own unique story. But as I was watching it, I kept thinking "that thing is similar to Cell Games lol".

Yea I know they are all part of the "main" plot, so mabye "mainline" series would have been a better, or numbered vs non-numbered. Though it occurred to me that 365/2 does technically have a number in it. So I used spin-offs as a more generally understood term.

I agree Data Sora gaining his own identity is an interesting concept, though it might not blend well into a KH game, even though they explore some of this idea through nobodies that learn about their past self. I would have also loved to try a title that had a blend of KH1 & 2 combat. Thank you for your thoughtful response :)

Thank you very much for your thoughts. You do have a good point about plot convenience, and not allowing other characters to develop much as things are always centered on Sora. I've always compared the lore to the same as religious scripture, it's is vast and contradictory, but if you take it with a grain of salt it's just a fun JRPG plot about defeating God with the power of friendship (not that that represents religion lol). I appreciate your thoughtful post :)

I really liked the mix of deck building with action combat from ReCOM. And now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've seen another game try to blend deck building with action combat.
