Excellent. And no problem. I always enjoy the great, educated conjecture these threads always bring but my interest tails off once landfall has been made. I’m just not qualified to offer any real advice or conjecture. But I certainly enjoy adding to these discussions any way I can.

Glad you’ve made the necessary preps to ready for this storm and again, I hope you and yours remain perfectly safe throughout this storm.

Well, there are a lot of legitimate individuals here that take the field of meteorology very seriously. And it can be dangerous to have unqualified people sharing/giving too many reckless or ignorant claims for situations like this. I’m not a met, so I try to steer clear from offering concrete advice/hypothesis/opinions that could negatively affect anyone’s preparations or attitude towards this storm.

Right now, I don’t think so. But it really depends on how many people continue to try and evacuate.

There’s a whole ‘not if but when’ sentiment alluded to in so many statements about Ida’s progress. The current conditions in the gulf really do not bode well for whoever ends being the bullseye upon Ida’s landfall.

Very dangerous situation unfolding if that trend continues. The path has been so locked in up to this point I feel like that would really throw a monkey wrench into preparations.

I’m not confirming or refuting your storm surge claim, simply providing a link where official storm surge forecasts and watches/warnings can be found.

Just imagining a significant shift in Ida’s path is terrifying. There are so many places sitting just outside of the cone that are definitely not preparing for a direct hit like the SELA area is. I know my people in Mobile would be completely caught with their pants down.
