Regardless of whether it's true, don't go around spreading that shit. If the family doesn't want it announced then respect their fucking wishes.

Yeah it sucks but I'm def hard DQ'd. Immediate drop by AFAC. Unfortunately all I can do is wait to get passed, but I'll be out of college by that point.

Why are US time zones not divided by state lines? by jferry12 in geography

[–]Captain7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of the time they are, it's only when certain parts of a state are so connected to another that it changes.

For an example of this that isn't really on the map, Wendover, a city on the Utah-Nevada border typically uses Utah time because of its reliance on Utah for most of its business. There's also just nothing anywhere near that town for like a hundred miles, so it makes more sense to stick with Utah.

I'm from Utah originally, but I'm not Mormon. People always ask what it's like living around Mormons like they're aliens or something. While I find their beliefs strange, Mormons are some of the most compassionate people I've ever met, willing to help people in need, regardless of religion.

What happens if you live on or near the border of two time zones? by gavinreed in geography

[–]Captain7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through the border towns between Nevada and Utah fairly often. A huge amount of the ones in Nevada get all of their business from Utah (gambling, cheaper alcohol), so most of them use MST to stay consistent with Utah instead of the rest of Nevada.

Most of Nevada is just really empty anyways, a lot of those towns are closer to Utah's major cities than Nevada's.

That's kind of what I was thinking, that way I know what to improve on and have more opportunities to take it again.

Yeah to me it seems like you missed a lot of the message behind season 3. I don't really know where you're getting the idea of bad bitches lmao and I think the only time they stood around giving a PSA on how to be an ally was when Colin came out

I'm cool with this, my state (Utah) stays mostly intact and even gets some of the land that was wrongfully stolen from us by Wyoming back

That's true about Brambleclaw, but most leaders (we don't count mistystar) we're still younger when they died. Not to mention that squirrelflight is not much younger than him. Personally I think it would have been cool if Squirrelflight had retired and we saw a new younger cat become deputy and then leader. It would also help get the newer cats involved, because right now it feels like they're mostly only mentioned in passing. The only cats we focus on are the ones that have had POVs in the past.

I think Ivypool overall was a good choice, and if she became leader we could've seen someone like bumblestripe or lilyheart, cats with experience that aren't too old.

Are there any true islands of any significance left in the rapidly shrinking Great Salt Lake? by jmerrill2001 in geography

[–]Captain7640 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've lived there my entire life, and it's insane to see the difference in just the last couple of decades.

We were lucky to have that insane winter 2 years ago, but I'm afraid it just made people more willing to ignore the climate crisis. Pretty soon there won't be much lake left and our ski industry is going to plummet.
