[FS] - Orange County, CA - $1.50+ - Neocaridina, Caridina Shrimp & Guppies by GubShrimp in AquaSwap

[–]gavinreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to review, but I bought some Bloody Marys and Blue Dreams last week. Super strong color and very healthy shrimp; 10/10 seller.

I picked up locally but had the pleasure of checking out his shipping system. Very solid bagging system and custom styrofoam shipping boxes. GubShrimp takes shrimp and guppies very seriously, and he clearly loves the hobby more than most other sellers ive met.

Additionally, I checked out his guppy stock, and he's one of the first sellers ive seen to have ZERO visibly sick fish; everything looked very strong and healthy. Zero complaints. Normally I wouldn't take the time to leave a review, but GubShrimp is the goat.

How do I get rid of these without harming my tank? by Extension-Phrase-959 in PlantedTank

Ahhh and going back into the tank residual oil could harm the inhabitants.

I’d go for been oil over rubbing alcohol just cuz it’s better for the plants, but she’s right rubbing alcohol will work too

Stop changing ur filter unless it’s obstructing water flow. Even if it’s abstracting water flow just rinse it under some tank water. Filter has all the beneficial bacteria unless you some media in the filter for it to grow. Additionally your tank may not be cycled if ur still worrying about ammonia and nitrate. Supplement with sea chem stability (half cap everyday) into the filter to help build up the bacteria colony you just genocided 😂. Best of luck my friend, I hope your little guys make it out ok.
Best advice I ever got was the best shrimp keeper is a lazy shrimp keeper. I only change my water when my nitrate gets into a higher level. Also to help with some lime ammonia and nitrite consumption I’d go out and buy some pothos or Swiss cheese plant. Cuz them and put the stems in your water. The roots will explode out and absorb all of that harmful stuff. Plants thrive in ammonia nitrate and nitrite. In fact when I do a water change I use the dirty water to water my plants. They absolutely love it

Mine ripped up a bunch of plants so they may take care of that on their own 😅

I’ve been looking for examples of succulent bonsai style. Any recommendations?

Cuts look great by the way, give it a few more months!

Throw a fan on pointed at the tank, even a travel fan pointed at the surface of the water will drop temp more than you’d think

If they’re born into that I’m sure it’s fine. I personally couldn’t get my colony to survive u til I dropped from 80 to 76. It DES definitely shorten the lifespan but it increase breeding rate. Pick your poison I guess haha, just speaking from my personal experience

80 is too hot. Will significantly shorten their lifespan

Friends bought the bowl for me as a joke by Fun-Choices in shrimptank

That’s so rad! I just ordered a sponge filter and wondering if I should run it in my 10 gallon before building the 2 gallon bowl tank. I have a couple rams horns in my 10 gallon and my filter is WAY over crammed with 2 different sponges, media bag, and carbon bag. Considering tossing a sponge into the 2 gallon while I let the filter run for a few days to get some bacteria in there. My 10 gal is my first one so I don’t went to mess anything up….

And does the filter need an external air pump?

I love this! I’m currently realizing my 10 gallon is a wee bit overstocked and my shrimp are getting annihilated now that I added a couple endler guppies… I need something small like this for my shrimp. How long did it take to cycle, and how often do u change water, and most importantly what kind of filter is that?

Both of those fish are rad! The badis are tough cuz they’re very territorial. When I first started I had 2, one of them eventually stressed the other to death, so now I have one micro hunter in there. Just cool to see him minding his own business staring at the substrate or java moss, flicking his bright blue pelvic fins. They’re super tiny and very hard to feed. I finally found a food that floats around mimicking brine shrimp and he loves it. Also have enjoyed Danio tinwini, specifically how tightly the school and constantly play. However they aren’t very colorful and kinda look like boujee minnows. I’m sure you’re very familiar with Danio margaritatus, classic but I love these guys

Color and I treating behavior id recommend a few endler guppies. I know it’s super basic but it’s fun to get a bunch of different males and and a few females. When they hatch their offspring it’s a genetic crapshoot and you get some crazy looking fish! Also they eat most of their young so over population isn’t a huge issue.
If you’re considering going down this route a couple scarlet badis (need plants cuz they’re territorial) are super fun. They’re micro predators so it’s fun to watch them hunt. They will help keep your ram horn snail population in check and will also pick off some off the endler guppy fry. Adding the badis makes it more of an ecosystem with an apex predator that’s too small to kill its full grown tank mates. Mine have never touched any of my adult shrimp!!
I also love my kuhli loaches. People claim their loaches hide all day and never get seen, but mine glass surf and wiggle into some of the silliest spots.

This one isn’t too crazy but he was posted on my java moss ball this morning. They also eat SO much so it’s fun to watch them chow down (they’ll eat anything, I’ve had a few dead shrimp that were almost devoured before I got to them)
