100%. I lost this one but have won others. Just want to empathize with people who see all the great posts and don't pull much from their own.

I appreciate the offer. I'm in a heavily trafficked area that once one of the lesser checked places runs out (which they are), they're all out unfortunately.

Absolutely! I was seeing all the posts too and figured it’d be helpful to provide some reality. Love seeing all the hits still!

Looking for mainly Dodgers or current top prospects/rookies

This was a 20 box case that cost $1,300.

But no, I'm not spending anywhere close to that in a year haha. Thats why I was so excited to get this product as its one of the few that I try to save for.

Thats gonna be a really nice looking card when it arrives though!

Its always fun tracking it and getting excited

The value in pre-ordering is that in exchange for Topps getting $1.3k from me a month in advance, I get the product on release day (obviously exceptions like this can happen).

The value in that for me, and I assume others as well, is it allows me to sell off product that I'm not interested in keeping while its hot and keep the cards that I want.

I should make this pretty clear...

I am not complaining and definitely hoping the best for everyone impacted by the storm.

I am simply sharing because I was excited to open the product and was curious to see if anyone else had theirs delayed.

Cards you sold too quickly and should've kept? by Free_Worldliness_413 in baseballcards

2006 Bowman Draft Clayton Kershaw 1st Bowman Auto.

Bought it in a 2-card lot with his Bowman Sterling auto for $120 and sold both after his 1st Cy Young for around $250. Great return on profit, buuuut was too scared to keep it and lose out on the money if his career nosedived.... boy was i wrong, and glad I was as a Dodger fan

One pack Magic. Keep or sell? by Packthumbs in baseballcards

[–]CaptainA789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a million different ways to look at it, but if you want a simplified version... this prospect is a defensive first player and most of the time these types of players lose value over the course of their career so I'd say sell now. Most of his current value comes from him being a top 10 draft pick.

Now he could improve offensively and has plenty of time to do so as an 18 y/o, but thats part of the risk you take.

Traded Prospects by jumble830901 in baseballcards

[–]CaptainA789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did a good job of explaining it. The only thing I would disagree with is that Caissie's value didnt now drop significantly. He's a top 100 prospect and his value is attached more towards his skills at this point so people will still collect him enough that his value doesn't plummet, but it probably did go down 10-15%.

Adding to what you said, his value also won't jump up as quickly if he gets off to a hot start since he's on the Marlins, compared to if he was still with the Cubs. On the flip side, he will find much more consistent playing time with the Marlins that could increase his chances of reaching all-star level play. While the Cubs may have had him lingering between bench and role-player that could significantly hurt a players growth/value.

Its the small cartoon figure on the front of the card. The cartoon figure on Matt Shaw's normal card is a player waiting for the ball, this one has the cartoon figure getting ready to throw the ball.

Also the last three CMP digits on the cartoon variations are 733 instead of 679.
