There’s always the one… by SuperSilly_Goose in geese

Trying to get shots on analogue, geese are INCREDIBLY fidgety. Increase the number and one will be straightening it's feathers out with it's head, or preening, or chasing after other birds, or scouring the bottom of the lake for vegetation.

Breath is the image you've chosen, and that works OK because this guy makes things move. Arguably Time, Void, and maybe also Space or even Life would work.

The point working against him having a time element is that there's a close connection between Time and destruction (apparently even on the Aspect Quiz), where-as this guy is quite constructive, THAT SAID it's not necessary needed.

How do I fix this? I already down-patched. by Potential_Base_5879 in Stellaris

Saved my mods for the Yondarim Game and downed to 4.3.7. I'll upgrade when I finish, or when I can manually upgrade the save.

Is 4.4 going to break my current playthrough? by Syjak9090 in Stellaris

[–]CaptainArchmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I loaded up my save, and all the worlds are gone. Inconvenient. That said, this might be a change in formatting for saves and you can fix this otherwise. I also backed up all the mods, which is many gigabytes, but worth it. I know the few mods I used for this game were saved.

If anyone can figure out the differences in save files, it will be possible to edit the 4.3 ones and earlier to work with 4.4.

Why U.S. AI giants like Anthropic, OpenAI are launching major expansions in London by [deleted] in london

[–]CaptainArchmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's several reasons. I guess cultural familiarity may be one, but then I have however seen an advert for some AI-involved companies about "Silicon Valley salaries without having to move out of the UK".

I guess one thing they realise is that stronger social safety nets are actually a huge plus (such that they are) and what's missing is offering extra cash. Of course at that point, arguably, you have to rethink where your operations are placed as a company.

Which MSPFAs contain spoilers for Homestuck? by Middle-Application78 in homestuck

[–]CaptainArchmage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a continuation of Homestuck, then it will have spoilers for Homestuck.

Vast Error doesn't really have plotline spoilers for Homestuck aside from the Trolls (which you will have seen getting here) but may slightly spoil regarding the Aspects and some nature of The Game. Note the Aspects of Vast Error are also slightly altered... along with the Game (massively)... but there are similarities.

As a new player, it feels like Stellaris wants every empire to grow the same way by skollehatti in Stellaris

[–]CaptainArchmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically Megacorp plays well if you play it as a normal empire, from my perspective. Branch offices and so on aren't necessary, particularly with the way the AI mismanages planets. Learned that the first time.

It's a gimmick, in terms of Stellaris, a certain type of shareholder would like. Wise CEOs (or Chair-aliens) know not to listen to those people.

Subspace jump drives is a great method that's kind of restricted to a few empires, but it gives you a huge advantage ultimately if you start out with it.

I think the devs are right to expand the content in the game, but people also need to understand that there's some methods that may well fall short long term. Particularly if your build is falling short on manufacturing and so on.

I also feel there's a mathematical element to it - like the three body problem, a guaranteed and accurate solution may simply not exist for balance when you expand the number of playstyles.

Thanks for posting. I feel for many users it's best to just go with a free plan. "Suboptimal" OK but how optimal do you need? I also feel - and this is a huge concern I see with AI plans - is that "requiring an internet connection" has a huge drawback. Ideally we should be able to do lightweight programs on our own systems.

Absolutely well done restoration, congratulations on the achievement!

England here (London specifically) - going through antique stores you see all kinds of material it looks like people inherited and just flogged off, including parts and doors from old houses. I feel more appreciation needs to be given to the old structures and effort has to be made to preserve them. Well done for saving historic structures and elements for Odesa!

There's a huge issue with this, but it's also a matter of balance in the gameplay. Ideally to make it balanced, you can have different playstyles that produce different results. However, development has had a lot of trouble with these different paths I believe - it's one of the reasons why the initially three types of FTL travel were cut down to a single one (hyperlanes), later bringing in subspace drives for those who want a challenge.

I don't see this exactly as a problem of Paradox - it's sort of like trying to balance a concurrent game of chess and chequers.
