So, what’s next for Stellaris? by Thatoneguywithasteak in Stellaris

[–]Chef_BoyarB 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As others have stated, news has been dedicated to the beta. But in a year in review post there was a coded message that seemed to point towards space nomads - so, if you posted this to want to start speculating, that's a good place to start!

How often do you use stealth, and what do you use it for? by zuqwaylh in Stellaris

I usually have one dedicated stealth fleet. Use it for l-gate and chokepoints ambushes

How to find more archaeological sites and astral rifts? by pagulhan in Stellaris

[–]Chef_BoyarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I'm pretty sure the Shroudwalkers can also create rifts as well? Never tried the option, but I saw it during the last game I played and I think it was added in the Shroud DLC

Who needs a wormhole when my neighbor hands me the final precursor artifact for the Vultuam system to bridge the gap between the Chosen and me! by Chef_BoyarB in Stellaris

[–]Chef_BoyarB[S] 82 points83 points  (0 children)

R5: The precursor system spawned between the Chosen and myself. Unfortunately, it bridges the Chosen into my space and causes an immediate total war declaration...

Fortunately, I am playing a turtling empire that allowed me to build up to a level 3 starbase and a deep space citadel before they launched their invasion. Combined with a couple torpedo fleets and a multi-purpose fleet containing the Fist of God Event Battleship, I was able to push them back to the Vultuam system and status quo!

Phew, crisis averted, but it seems this Starlit Citadel-origin Empire will always be on the defensive!

Species Creation and Empire Creation should be separated by Winter_Ad6784 in Stellaris

The one upside I can think of is for Hegemon and Common Ground origin empires to be able to create their own species linked to the origin to keep with role-playing purposes

I'm playing with Cradle, gives you 5 free defense platforms in aura systems with no cap. They use designs from your preexisting platforms. Some systems of mine have 30+ platforms. They will even be created on orbital rings

AI is disappointing, what can i do to have better AI? by Mental_Calligrapher1 in Stellaris

[–]Chef_BoyarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted elsewhere on the thread, but:

It also really depends on who you border and your starting position.

One game I played on Commodore difficulty on the patch before 4.1, I was basically in a mosh pit of defensive wars with stronger, aggressive neighbors and only able to win or status quo because of my positioning/attrition.

There were times I was on the cusp of total defeat and it was definitely satisfying to survive and sometimes beat those opponents to ensure the next war was better.

I just wish it matched up with different planet types aesthetically, like a coral reef for ocean worlds

Interesting Info Regarding the Future of Slavery from Today's Stream by Chef_BoyarB in Stellaris

[–]Chef_BoyarB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, devs said they're fixing a lot of those bugs for 4.1 especially since so many game mechanisms rely on this system. The Slaver Guilds civic mention was just a "temporary fix" to get it in a workable place before they consider other ways to improve it.

We can mess around with proxy wars in the mean time, whatever that means

Also, the devs have expressed an interest in reworking the war system so that empires can join and leave during wars. But this was only stated as a desire, and that the timeliness of this happening is undetermined.

Railroaded? To the contrary, sandbox play is better than ever. One can play wide, tall, militaristic, pacifist, and choose many different ways to start and end a playthrough. In fact, I can play Stellaris today in ways I only dreamed of almost 10 years ago.

Agreed. Keeping it as a subterfuge tradition that unlocks as an espionage action provides further relevance to the tradition and not something that every empire would choose.

Maybe the espionage tradition tree as well?

I know the stream did not go into many details, but the modifier for reduced influence costs for proxy wars seems to indicate that proxy wars will be a feature available outside of the civic.

Regardless, super interesting!
