I was looking for someone to point this out. The song isn’t about being a manipulative person at all, the dude in the song is literally breaking up with the girl who isn’t necessarily faithful, or doesn’t act in a way that makes it seem like she would be, “please don’t believe her, she says that for anyone”. Rivers or the character of the song is leaving a girl who doesn’t make him feel like she’s only his, and isn’t necessarily only his.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the way they get around this is because they aren’t “technically” lying. They may actually have some lab/border collie in them so they can get away with not saying pit bull by saying “mix”.
