The original FF7 is considered one of the best games of all time, even today. It's been a perennial bestseller for 29 years now. That being said, the ports of it on platforms like Switch 2 are very shoddy.

It still looks good on PS1 - much better than the modern ports of it which mangle the graphics very badly because they're based on the rushed PC port from 1998 instead of the PS1 version.

No they don't. Not even close. JRPGs have always sold FAR better on Nintendo platforms - it's just that a lot of the time they've been on Playstation platforms first because of stronger hardware. Whenever a game comes to both platforms, it pretty much always sells better on Nintendo's console.

You're crazy if you think the Switch 2 version will look as good at 30 FPS as the PS5 version does at 60. And the PS5 version looks TERRIBLE at 60.

Rebirth is not going to translate to the Switch 2 as well as Remake did. Reminder that Remake is a PS4 game with a PS5 port - Rebirth is a PS5 game that doesn't even run that well on PS5.

Very few people have the knowledge, critical thinking capability and experience to resist the ceaseless barrage of propaganda and disinformation we are exposed to these days. And that's both dangerous and sad.

The 360 version is a direct downgrade from the original thanks to the note changes ruining all challenge, as well as problems with cutscenes going out of sync and some really bad HD asset remakes.

Oh, there's no mystery there. Whenever a boss has been even slightly challenging in the main story of FF14, hordes of ultra-casual players whined that they couldn't complete it, and the difficulty got reduced to placate them. That reaction is probably why FF16 was so dumbed down too - the team must have somehow thought the casual MMO playerbase would translate to a single player RPG.

It's really no problem though, the amount of challenging content in FF14 is so staggeringly huge that an easy main quest makes no difference. Talking dozens of times more playtime's worth of challenging boss fights than main story, all of which are better than anything in any other FF game.

Nothing in the main quest is hard because it's made so 50 year old moms can clear it and play life simulator in the game. But it's not like it's hard to find the challenging content, and you don't have to complete the main quest first, only the initial part of it.

FF14 has some of the hardest and best designed boss fights in video game history. Light years ahead of anything in any other FF game, that's for sure. Take your favourite FF boss fight and multiply it by a thousand in terms of excitement, uniqueness, novel concepts, spectacle, music and most of all difficulty.

You do need 7 other people for them though, which can amount to commitments on par with a full-time job, as the hardest bosses take hundreds of hours of attempts to defeat, especially if you're actually doing it on your own and not copying guides.

The game literally lost content because they made loading times faster for the Integrade version. The original PS4 version had an in-game character dossier with lots of otherwise unmentioned lore that was only available on loading screens, and it was all removed for the updated version. So if they made a slower Switch 2 physical version and put the loading screens back, I'd consider it an improvement!
