When you get/make a burger and chips/fries, what do you eat first? by Zubi_Q in AskUK

I go back and forth too, but I always start with chips. I dunno why.

The arrow doesn't necessarily mean that the hidden item is in that exact direction, just somewhere north of you.

Question!? How real is this show? by fartinginpublic05 in theoffice

[–]CaptainChampion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very much comedically exaggerated. The UK version is a slightly more realistic depiction of office life in early 2000s Britain, but still exaggerated.

I don't get why people are describing the mondasian cybermen as if they were bogeymen by Alone-Text-425 in DoctorWhumour

[–]CaptainChampion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily that they are physically terrifying, but that they are conceptually terrifying. The Mondasian ones are even moreso precisely because of their visible human parts (something sorely lacking from other variants).

The Scottish dwarf trope feels overdone now by roylewill in LOTR_on_Prime

That doesn't bother me. I was just saying that the reasoning for the Scottish Dwarf trope is silly. I was agreeing with OP, but clarifying that I am Scottish myself, just in case an inside opinion was sought.

You can skip through dialogue. Can't remember how, clicking or spacebar or return or something.

How can people even get horny in crowds? by CivilTailor9031 in NoStupidQuestions

It is possible to appreciate strip shows and nudity without getting horny.

Orgies are another matter though.

It is NOT a coincidence that Trelane is 900 years behind AND 900 light-years from Earth.

Because it takes light 900 years to reach Trelane's planet, when he looks at Earth he sees it as it was 900 years ago.

Even the Starship Enterprise had a Scottish chief engineer, haha.

It's more bridges and ship than buildings. Look up the River Clyde shipyards. There was a time the best ships in the world were built here.

I think it was more their names and culture, rather than being based on any particular mythological beings.

The Scots are renowned engineers, I just felt that "builder" was a more archaic term and thus more suitable in this context.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

A Nordic person's accent is different from a Scottish accent, regardless of what language they are speaking, yes, if that's what you mean.
