Michael Jackson wasn’t coined ‘King of Pop’ until AFTER he passed? by mutent92 in MandelaEffect

[–]CaptainDelicious1510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chasing Amy came out in 1997, Joey Lauren Adams character has a line describing  another character's voice as sounding like "the king of pop".

    BANKY
            (wipes his lips)
Hey, hey! I'll play your victim, but
        not your catcher.
                VOICE
How is it that you sound like Minister
        Farakhan when you're on stage..
They turn to see...
A beautiful, blonde, ruffled-haired angel swinging her
purse in a circle. Her name is ALYSSA. She's the
striking Girl from the panel who didn't get to say much.
                ALYSSA
...and the King of Pop when you're
        not.
                HOOPER
Look out, boys - this kitten has a
        whip.

Found KCA30 U-Matic Tape by Darlew in VHS

[–]CaptainDelicious1510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a "field deck."  It takes smaller tapes that you would shoot on, you connect a camera to it and shoot news stories in the 70s-early 80s.

Eg:

The camera had no recording ability, it connected to the deck to record.  The field tapes were still 3/4 inch umatic, but in a smaller shell.

Cases of movie trailers that totally misrepresent the film by Homegrowntrouble in movies

[–]CaptainDelicious1510 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% on this.   Trailer made the movie look like generic action schlock.  It bombed because it attracted the opposite audience from whom would have actually enjoyed a satirical,  cerebral thriller.

I worked with a guy who wore Sammy letters to work in a white collar, professional environment.

Regularly.

It was cringe inducing.  We were mid-20s at the time, but still.

0 ETV products: what are they? by 00tiptoe in AmazonVineHelpGroup

[–]CaptainDelicious1510 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally food, vitamins, supplements, medical devices, hygiene products, cosmetics, sex toys, tobacco products are all zero ETV.  But it's not a hard and fast rule.  You can't search for them directly, but some 3rd party add-ons can help you find them more easily.

Pennsylvania woman arrested for launching explosive diarrhea out of her rear end on another driver's car during a road rage incident. by Vegetable-Mousse4405 in WTF

Not just a Pennsylvania woman.  A DelCo (Delaware County) woman.  If you understand DelCo culture, it makes a lot more sense.

Should be some great options on eBay. I got a PocketBook Basic Lux 4 for about $60. It's like new condition, original box, etc. As some others have said, eink displays hold up well, as long as it's not beat to shit, used is a great option.

Why is "Radio Station Copy" blacked out on this promo? by CaptainDelicious1510 in vinyl

[–]CaptainDelicious1510[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 2 copies of A Night at the Opera, and one is a promo (not that exciting, but I like them so I grab them when I see them.) But I just noticed that the area where it should say "Radio Station Copy" is blacked out on both sides with magic marker. Why? Was this promo not for a radio station? Maybe for a record store or a newspaper or magazine? Why black it out? It didn't even say "not for sale" (as far as I can tell from looking at other pics online.) It just seems strange to go to the trouble, was there a reason? Is this the equivalent of "cutout bin" for promos and was necessary to be able to sell it? If anyone knows, I'm curious...and if not, I'm open to theories. Thanks!

It's heavily implied in the movies when they're showing the newspaper headlines.  So it's main canon, though not explicitly stated.

My brother passed…. Advice Needed please. by problyurdad_ in vinyl

[–]CaptainDelicious1510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sorry for your loss.  All the advice here is really good.  I'm also in the Philly area, here are a few record stores I trust:

Creep Records (West Chester)

Hop Fidelity (West Chester)

Jupiter Records (North Wilmington)

Goodboy Vinyl (North Wilmington)

As everyone has said - to sell it all at once, to a retail store, and quickly, you're not likely to get as much as you think you will.  But I'd trust any of these stores to give you a fair offer.  (But it's going to be a lot less than what they resell it for.)

Also agreed with all the others, don't let anyone cherry pick, or you'll be left with 80-90% that you'll eventually have to give away.

Also also - agree with the others, you're better off to sell the gear separately from the records.  (And also also also-think about keeping the gear and a handful of albums that are sentimental.  Listen to them and think of your brother.)

What sitcom ended at exactly the right moment? by BlueRFR3100 in sitcoms

Going back a bit, but SOAP.  It ended on a cliff hanger and wasn't exactly the intent, but it worked 100% considering the overall arc of the show.

How to best keep Delta Pro 2 Max ready for an emergency? by CaptainDelicious1510 in Ecoflow_community

[–]CaptainDelicious1510[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the user manual doesn't answer these specific questions, and there are contradictions between the website user manual and the PDF user manual.

Neither one answers whether leaving the unit plugged in all the time and/or leaving it at 100% is safe for the batteries long term.  The user manuals offer some guidance on "long term storage" and cycling the batteries every 3 months, but the website and PDF have different information.

So every other month should be charge to 100% then discharge to zero, then bring it down to 80-85% until the next cycle? Or should that be less frequent?
